Default Ban On Facebook

I think there should be a ban on Facebook in Pakistan, Because it has many disadvantages.
One of the biggest Facebook disadvantages is that it addictive or can become addictive easily. Once you get connected with your facebook friends you will realize how frequently you open Facebook and also spend so much time in commenting, viewing other’s pictures, playing games or doing other stuff. Many people know drawbacks of using Facebook but can’t stop using it.

If someone cannot regulate their use of Facebook, it doesn't mean it should be banned.

It is a common attitude in our society that we straight away go the extreme of 'banning' anything that we think is destroying our culture, our way of life or our moral values. Why is it that we are unable to decide for ourselves what is good for us and what not?

Our government has already banned YouTube; a site that contains such a wealth of information. They could have easily solved the problem by blocking the specific videos. If more videos come into being, you can easily check and block them. But NO. We have blocked the whole website. Problem solved, but such a valuable platform lost.

Similarly, Facebook is a great platform for finding people who have similar interests as you, or finding Pakistani communities when you are abroad, or finding fellow students and study material when you study in a university.

Just because Facebook has those stupid games and pictures of your friends that you can spend hours on, doesn't mean it should be banned. You are the one who should be banned for wasting your time on Facebook when you should be among the most productive people of your country.
