There are people who think that “a perfect Muslim” is simply one who is correct in the observance of the salah (ritual Prayer), the fasting, the zakah (payment of a certain portion of one’s wealth to the poor), and the Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah). This indeed is not the case. If the ritual observances do not help the person to be humble, virtuous and truly God-fearing, then he or she is not a real Muslim. A Muslim should be good and just in dealing with others, no matter their religion, and take special care to keep away from all the shameful and sinful things Allah (God) has forbidden.

We can summarize the teachings of Islam about the Muslim character succinctly in this form:

Be truthful in everything, don’t lie.

Be sincere and straightforward, don’t be hypocritical.

Be honest, don’t be corrupt.

Be humble, don’t be boastful.

Be moderate, don’t be excessive.

Be reserved, don’t be garrulous.

Be soft-spoken, don’t be loud.

Be refined and gentle in speech, don’t curse and use foul language.

Be loving and solicitous to others, don’t be unmindful of them.

Be considerate and compassionate, don’t be harsh.

Be polite and respectful to people, don’t be insulting or disrespectful.

Be generous and charitable, don’t be selfish and miserly.

Be good natured and forgiving, don’t be bitter and resentful.

Share and be content with what Allah has given you, don’t be greedy.

Be cheerful and pleasant, don’t be irritable and morose.

Be chaste and pure, don’t be lustful.

Be alert and aware of the world around you, don’t be absent-minded.

Be dignified and decent, don’t be graceless.

Be optimistic and hopeful, don’t be cynical or pessimistic.

Be confident and have deep faith, don’t be doubtful and wavering.

Be spiritually oriented and not materialistic.

Be confident of the mercy of Allah, don’t be despairing and lose heart.

Be diligent and vigilant of your duties, don’t be negligent.

Be thankful to Allah and constantly pray to Him, don’t be forgetful of His innumerable blessings.

A strong Muslim has faith which gives him inner and outer strength. If you follow these steps you are well on your way to become a true Muslim and be the love of God. Though its very hard to survive with these rules in pakistan yet not impossible

1 Accept that God Almighty exists. and His attributes are beyond our imagination. He is capable of everything and anything. Faith in God is essential. Accept that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last of a long line of Prophets that started with Adam, through Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and everyone in between. Accept that the Holy Quran is the last and true word of God

2 Pray sincerely. Affirm that God is close to you. Always pray on time, never delay. Never do things that will only prevent you to do things that are much more important. Nothing is much more important than obeying what God asks of you. While working or studying, halt everything you are doing and go to the nearest mosque to pray. If somebody were to ask you where you are heading, say that you are answering God's call to prayer.

3 Pray in the middle of the night. Pray when most people around you are sleeping soundly. The name of the prayer is Tahajjud. However to perform this special voluntary prayer, you must have some sleep first, even if it is very short. The night is the most efficacious time to pray.

4 Recite His name every time. Also known as Zikr in Muslim terminology, reciting His name will ultimately make you a strong Muslim because you are constantly reminded of what good He has done for you.
5 Be grateful for everything you have. The more thankful you are the more you will realize how much you have been blessed. And by doing this, God willing, you will be stronger because you will believe that God is present.

6 Protect your chastity. You need to know that adultery is a sinful act and always avoid it. This applies to both men and women. Women should not wear tight or revealing clothes, and men should always lower their gaze and guard their modesty.

7 Keep to your promise. If you feel that you could not manage something, just inform that person so. Abiding to your promise will ultimately make you trustworthy person.

8 Respect the opinion of others. No opinions are bad or stupid. You should treat them as gems. Without opinions, things will never get better. If you do not like any idea, do not invalidate them but add on to the idea to improve it.

9 Fast for the right reasons. Not because you want to impress others, nor because you want to feel superior in terms of popularity when you get fitter later. Fast with the intention to please only Allah, and to get the reward for fasting. Also fast because you will be able to perform salat correctly and also because you want to be responsible over your health. Nevertheless fast because of remembering those who do not have privileges like food and water. Fast twice a week, preferably on Mondays and Thursdays. Fast during the month of Ramadan and also on the day of Arafah which is on the 9th of Zulhijjah. God will forgive all the sins you have done the one year before and after if you fast during the day of Arafah.

10 Never lie. It should be emphasized again. God hates his adherents to lie to others. Your integrity will directly have an impact towards your dignity. People will look high upon you if you are honest and true to whatever you say. Unless the lie will actually cover up somebody else's shame or will avoid distress for everybody. For instance, if your friend have stolen money from his parents, you should not tell others that your friend had once stolen money.

11 Be good to your wife, if you are a man. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that "The best of you is he who is the best to his wife". Be kind to her, always support her and allow her an equal share in decision making and property ownership.

12 Struggle towards goodwill. Sacrifice your time and visit the mosque if there is a lecture. Forfeit your property to those who needs it more than you do. In other words, always give charity. The recipient will be thankful that you have given them aid in their daily life. Remember, the one who gives is better than than one who receives.

13 Practice felicity towards everything. Be gentle and good-hearted not only to your parents, but to your cousins, to your friends, to the flora and fauna around you. Always protect the surroundings. Never ever be aggressive towards the animals. You can always protect the environment by throwing rubbish properly and using the common transport.

14 Be gracious towards your parents. They have worked hard to bring home food. Your mother has suffered all the pain just to bring you to this world. What have you done to say thanks to them? They have brought joy to your life by buying you presents every now and then. Have you acknowledged that and appreciated them? Do whatever they expect of you and you will be fine.

15 Never sough over your loved one's death. Know that God did that because He loves your loved ones even more than you do. Accept that death is a resting phase for your loved ones against all the trouble this world can bring about.

16 Never waste your Time on useless things. The wasters will be the brother of Satan. At day of judgement, some items/properties are going to talk for the reason you wasted/damaged the properties.

17 Read the Quran/Hadith Regularly wid understanding. It will keep your iman stronger. It will keep your soul pure.

Thumbs up

Well The Prayer If Offered with true Spirit Which Is Mentioned in The Holy Quran That "AQEEM-us-SALATA" Namaz Qaim Krna, Then It Would Produce Tolerance, forbid To Do Evil And M any Such Virtues Will Automatically Be The Part of Our Life. So Regular Prayers Mean Alot To The Muslims Which Muslims Are totally Ignoring. If Any One Wana be Practicing Muslim Then He Should Ponder About The Obedience And Submission Along With The Good Deeds. Also All The Deeds Depend Upon The Intention. So Keeping Good Intention for Every One may transform Us to be A PRACTICING MUSLIM.
But The Term Perfect Muslim is Incomprehensible to me. In my perspective Muslim can BE Practicing, Partially Practicing or Non Practicing....

Dear Maha,

Read this:

Q: Can the Muslim who testifies that that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah enter Paradise, whatever bad acts he or she has committed?

A:All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Dear questioner, we are greatly pleased to receive your question, which shows the confidence you place in us. May Allah reward you abundantly for your interest in knowing the teachings of Islam.

To begin, we would like to stress that the Muslim enters Paradise through the Mercy and Grace of Allah that He bestows on His servants because nobody’s actions are comparable to or even get close to the reward that Allah Almighty gives.

Still, we are asked to do good deeds during our lifetime. That is why many verses in the Qur’an and Hadiths encourage us to do good deeds and avoid the bad ones so as to enter Paradise. Allah has prepared for His believing servants in Paradise that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor anyone imagined, to the extent that even the person who has the least blessings in Paradise will think that he is the most blessed among them.

Abu Sa`id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The lowest of people in status in Paradise will be a man whose face Allah turns away from the Fire towards Paradise, and shows him a tree giving shade. He will say, ‘O Lord, bring me closer to that tree so that I may be in its shade… Then he will enter his house (in Paradise) and his two wives from among Al-Hoor Al-`een (houris) will come in and say to him, ‘Praise be to Allah who brought you to life for us and brought us to life for you.’ Then he will say, ‘No one has been given what I have been given.’" (Reported by Muslim)

In his response to the question, Sheikh `Atiyyah Saqr, former head of Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee, states the following:

"Before tackling the point raised in the question, I would like to mention the following Prophetic Hadith.

Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was wearing white clothes and sleeping. I went back to him again after he had got up from his sleep. He said, "Nobody says, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’ and then later on he dies while believing in that, except that he will enter Paradise.” I said, "Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft?" He said, “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft." I said, “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft?” He said, “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft, in spite of Abu Dharr’s disliking (it).” Abu `Abdullah said, "This is at the time of death or before it if one repents and regrets and says, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.’ He will be forgiven his sins."

In light of the above Hadith, it has become clear now that as long as one believes in Allah and dies as a believer, then he will enter Paradise, in sha’ Allah. If that Muslim dies while he has committed sins of which he did not repent, then his fate is left to the Mercy of Allah, Who may forgive him according to His Will. Also, that person may enter the Hellfire for some time as a punishment for the sins he committed. At last, that sinful person will enter Paradise, in sha’ Allah as Allah Almighty says, “Lo! Allah forgiveth not that a partner should be ascribed unto Him. He forgiveth (all) save that to whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners to Allah, he hath indeed invented a tremendous sin.” (An-Nisa’: 48)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said, “Allah Almighty has forbidden the one who utters, ‘La Ilaha Illa Allah (there is no god but Allah)’ for Allah’s Sake to enter the Hellfire.” “Enter the Hellfire” in this Hadith means having it as a permanent abode.

Having clarified the above, I add that there is no contradiction between what is stated above and the Prophetic Hadiths such as “The adulterer is not a believer at the moment when he is committing adultery; the wine-drinker is not a believer at the moment when he is drinking wine; the thief is not a believer at the moment when he is stealing; the robber is not a believer at the moment when he is robbing and the people are looking on.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari, 2475; Muslim, 57).

The unbelief referred to in the above Hadith doesn’t constitute complete unbelief. Rather, it refers to the fact that with such sins, the person’s faith is not categorically cancelled, although it decreases.

Also, we can’t call the person who does such sins a disbeliever as long as he does not deem or declare the permissibility of what he is doing as lawful."

If you have any further comments, please don't hesitate to write back!

May Allah guide you to the straight path, and guide you to that which pleases Him, Amen.

Allah Almighty knows best.

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: No one can become a Momin until I am dearer to him/her than his/her father, sons and all others.
This has been recorded both by Bukhari and Muslim.

It has been narrated on the wuthority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Iman (faith) has 70 plus branches. The greatest (afdhal) of all is to say: La ilaha illallah and the least is to remove something harmful from the way and modesty (haya) is also a branch of Iman.
Bukhari and Muslim have both recorded this Hadith.

Hazrat Anas (RAA) relates that the Holy Prohet (peace be upon him) said : 'A person cannot be a perfect Muslim unless he desires for his brother (in faith) that which he desires for himself'. [Bukhari & Muslim]

@ Maha Khan
To be a perfect Muslim one should keep in mind Haquq-ul-Allah and Haquq-ul-Ebad,it covers whole teachings of Islam.

Regards,
