kaise kahoon ke aaina hairaan bhi na thaa
mera hi chehra khud meri pehchaan bhi na thaa

koi gunah ker ke pashemaan bhi na thaa
baqshish ka uske paas yeh samaan bhi na thaa

main inteqaam waqt se leta to kistarah
haathoun main mere uska garaibaan bhi na thaa

yeh bhi ghalat nahi ke woh anjaan tha magar
yeh bhi durust hai ki woh anjaan bhi na thaa

yun bhi guzar gayi hai hamari tere baghair
dil mutmaeen na thaa to pareshaan bhi na thaa

dil uska dard-o-hasarat-o-gham ka mazaar thaa
itna to koi be saro samaan bhi na t haa

yeh aur baat hai ke wafa darmiyaan thee
warna tumhari bazam ka armaan bhi na thaa

loot-e- gaye hain shahr-e-tammanna main hum
lutne ka jis muqaam per imkaan bhi na thaa


ek woh shaqs jisko ke dekha na tha
usko sochainge itna yeh socha na tha

hum ne sahil pe lakar doboya use
woh safina jo toofan main dooba na tha

umr bhar chashm e tar khoon roti rahi
khushk ho jaye aisa yeh darya na tha

aaina khane bhi sazishi ban gaye
sab ke chehre the mera hi chehra na tha

kis qadar zabt e gham se giraanbaar tha
ek aansoo jo palkoon se tapka na tha

phir bhi tujh tak pohnchne main barsoon lage
faasla yun to itna ziyaada na tha

jo aaj ashaar main dhal gaya
josh jazbaat ka tha woh darya na tha
