Jo Hum Pe Roz Naye Inkishaaf Karta Tha,

Woh Qatal Ho Giya Bad Soorton Ki Mehfil Main
Jo Saare Shaher Ki Aayene Saaf Karta Tha.

kyaa jii sakenge aapke deedaar ke baghair
wada wafa ka karke baghaawat nah keejiye

dekar gulaab unki mehak ko na cheeniye
lillah! mere dil peh qasaawat nah keejiye

moti hamaari aankh ke arzaan nah houn kahin
dunyaa mein istarah ki sakhaawat nah keejiye

miljaayen qurbatein hamen, mitjaayein faasle
dil se duaayen keejiye, hasrat nah keejiye

majbooriy-e-firaq ka shikwa nahin bajaa
khud per na ho yaqeen tou muhabbat nah keejiye

afsaana-e-bahaar na honton pe laaiye
zikr-e-shabaab behr-e-inaayat nah keejiye

sara ko apne zauq-e-nazar per hei iatimaad
apnaa khayaal rakhiye, naseehat nah keejiye
