FPSC ' English Lectureship Test 2011
Test was easy as compared to PCS' test.Personally I think it was a proper test to judge a candidate for lectureship. They didn't focus on "just" History like PCS but they focused on grammar and judged comprehension too.
Don't be surprised ,I wrote these questions on my roll nub slip as I did in PCS test Be fair,Be bold Test was divided in two parts; 1)Subject test (70 marks) 2)Professional test(30 marks) Subject test was further divided in these parts respectively(as far as I remember because I didn't write in order) Synonym(sentences were given and we had to replace the underlined word) 1)Almanac 2)Diaphanous 3)Blarney 4)Draconian 5)Slovenly behaviour Choose the correct word to fill in the blank 1)He is very_____ at dodging awkward questions. a)adopt b)adapt c) adept d)none of these 2)To____ your crockery doesn't get broken, wrap it all in bubble wrap. a)Insure b)assure c)ensure d)none of these 3) The loose floor boards of room____ audibly a)Creeked b)Creaked (Not sure) c)Crooked f)None of these 4)Old man____ on bed awaiting death a)Lie b)lay c)laid (Not sure) d)none of these 5)Children's continuous complaining______the mother a)Peeked b)Peaked c)picqued (Not sure) d)none of these Antonym 1)Caluminious 2)Explicable 3)Annul 4)Renounce 5)Generic Preposition 1)Windsor Bridge is _____river Thames a)in b)on c)across d)none of these 2)Ali got____car a)into b)on c)in d)none of these 3)Teacher asked students to do exercises_____the bottom of page. a)in b)on c)at d)none of these 4)Shelley is waiting_____someone a)for b)of c)from 5)She wanted a new dress_____any price a)on b)at c)for d)none of these To be continued.... |

dusraa, I also think that the test was far better than the test of spsc lectureship test, in terms of quality of questions and number of questions also. Atleast one does not feel hopeless after attempting 15 questions wrong Now my answers: 1)Almanac: newsletter 2)Diaphanous: translucent 3)Blarney: harmless joking(forgot the correct option, but it wz something harmless) 4)Draconian: unjust (ghalat hogaya ) 5)Slovenly behaviour: careless blanks: 1. adept 2. ensure 3. creaked 4. lay 5. picqued prepositions: 1. across 2. into 3. at 4. for 5. at i think i have done well (atleast in subject), but the absence of negative marking has heightened "the element of chance". lets see

Well, I also managed to use my roll number slip for writing some questions with only one option each which I marked in the test. Crosschecking proved some of my answers wrong. However, I am going to share the questions but with right answers..... ...
1. How many lines are in a limerick poem? 5 2. How did Sylvia Plath die? By committing suicide 3. Who is the author of "The Little Willow", a short story? Frances Towers 4. Which play of Jane Austen was originally titled as "First Impression"? Pride and Prejudice 5. Who is the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize? Edith Warton for "The age of Innocence" 6. Name the last novel written by E. M Foster. "A Passage to India" 7. What is Epode? Epode, in verse, is the third part of an ode, which followed the strophe and the antistrophe, and completed the movement. (See Wikipedia) 8. Molly Seagrim is a character in ____. Tome Jones by Henry Fielding 9. Pakistan is the ____ (2, 6, 9,3 )largest English speaking country in Asia. (please tell me the right answer) There were five questions on IDIOMS. What I can recall include out on a limb wither on vine to paddle one's own canoe I think I need not repeat the questions Farrah Zafar has already mentioned in her post. Regards

No sir, it is not the correct answer. The link shows Pakistan's world ranking whereas the question was about Pakistan's ranking in Asia.
