hi! sir, i have recieved letter for the post of assistant in ghq. Paper pattern is mentioned on it. English Composition is also listed. Can u guide me about it? what type of composition they ask? and from where i have to prepare for it? Thanku

The most important question that is commonly asked in English composition part is to write precis of and give suitable title to the given paragraph. It is a MUST question. You may consult High School Grammar by Wren & Martin or Exploring the World of English by Syed Sadaat Ali for the rules of precis writing. In one of the exams I appeared for Assistant(BPS-15), they also asked me to write a short paragraph besides precis writing. In another examination for the same post in different department, they required me to translate the given paragraph from Urdu to English, another paragraph from English to Urdu, idioms, and reading comprehension besides precis. The questions asked were all of basic level.
