Yesterday it was me in the hot seat. I reached there at 8.15 am. after scrutiny of documents we were told to wait for our turn. the interviews started about 9.15.first as usual, they interviewed the female candidates. then male candidates were interviewed serial number wise. my turn came about 12.40 pm.i went in after seeking permission .mr.chairman asked me to be seated.
Mr.chairman:so mr. why unhappy in …..(my department)
Me: sir not at all I am not unhappy there, I want to work in a better capacity to improve my self, my family and my people.
Mr. chairman: why we select you as a civil servant.tell me five good reason ok quick,1,2,3,4,5
Me: after some thinking gave him reasons(but only 3)
Then he handed me over to the other member.
2nd member:ok tell me about foreign relation between china and Pakistan and its impact on pak-us relations?
Me:sir, pak and china are enjoying their honey moon period.they have cordial relations but in foreign policy you have no permanent friends or foes.pak-china friendship should not be considered as a counter weight to usa.we should balance them for uplifting socio-economic conditions of our people.
2nd member:ok tell me how you see the performances of past governments of Pakistan?
Me: sir, they did their best.unfortunately we inherited some serious problems and recently we faced some unfortunate incidents like the earthquake and floods but they were sincere in their efforts .
2nd member: ok are you satisfied with the present governments?
Me: yes sir, they are doing their best to tackle the crises.
2nd member: how can we improve the society?
Me: by allocating more development funds to the administration.
Chairman interrupted
From where we can give them funds?we have meager resources?
Me: sir they can improve law and order situation, hence encourage foreign investment here.with the economic boom you will have more funds.
3rd member(mr kalb-e-abbas):so, you have done masters in international relations.
Me: proudly yes sir(it was my home ground.in fact I was scared that they will ask about economics which was my subject in b.com.but i.r was my strong hold)
3rd member:what is SAARC?describe its efficiency?are you satisfied with its role?
Me: sir it stands for south asian association for regional co-operation.its purpose was to develop strong economic and social relations between members but it couldn’t serve its purpose mainly due to rivalry between its two most powerful members i.e, india and Pakistan.
3rd member: tel me about OIC. Is it serving its pupose?
Me: sir unfortunately OIC couldn’t serve its purpose mainly due to Saudi-iran differences.it remained dormant on many issues .it couldn’t do any thing in yemen crises.
3rd member: is there a need of parallel organization with OIC?
Me: sir I think it must be made dynamic with possible inclusion of a force on the pattern of NATO.with the infra-structure already available, I don’t think there is a need of parallel organization.
Again chairman
What are MDGs
Me: millennium development goals.
Mr.chairman: what are they?
Me: sir they are eight in numbers.
Mr.chaiman:what are they.
Me:i recalled only four.
Mr. chairman: is population explosion an asset or liability for Pakistan?
Me: sir, Pakistan is a country with limited resources.it is not rich like Scandinavian or Australia so population explosion is a liability for Pakistan.
Mr. chairman: but more population means more man power, ziada jawan log kamkartay hain buddhon ka kia karna ha?
Me: yes sir, but they also need more schools, hospitals and jobs for the youth.
Mr.chairman:then it is the job of government which make policies.
I did not argue further and said yes sir it is.
What is Bermuda triangle?and where is it?
Me: sir it is in pacific(atlantic is true).and it is famous as a mysterious place .many conspiracy theories regarding Bermuda some say that gravitational forces are much stronger here.many aeroplanes and ships disappeared there.
Mr.chairman:it is in atlantic(damn I got you)
Mr.kalbe-abbas:yes it is in atlantic:
Mr.chairman:see in your encyclopedia when you go back.
Me: ok sir I l see
Mr.chairman: what are the factors responsible for Baluchistan crises?
Me:sir, mainly there are two factors.(1)external factors(2)internal factors.
External factors are the involvement of foreign agencies like RAW, who are de stabilizing Baluchistan.
Mr.chaiman: what RAW stand for?
Me: sir it is research and analysis wing (of India)
Mr.chairman:ok what are the internal factors?
Me:sir it is illiteracy, poverty, and strong feudal and sardari system.
Mr.chairman:ok thank u gentleman
I thanked panel and with salam I came out of the room.
That’s all. Let’s see what happens next.my assessment here is they will award average marks(ranging between 120 to 140) in interview to most candidates with some execptions. as competition is much tough and each single mark carry its very importance but I think the real factor which will decide the fate of candidates will be their written marks.

You did an excellent job. On the question of population, I think he wanted to hear that "Population explosion is an asset for Pakistan if utilised properly otherwise it'll turn into a colossal responsibility"
