10. When a number is added to two-thirds of itself, the result is 45. What is the number? 27 11. When a number is added to a number three times as large, the result is 16. What is the number? 4 12. The product is a2b3 and a3b6 is: a5b9 13. The number midway between 103 and 301 is: 202 14. If x = 1, then x9 = ? 1 15. If 4x – 6 = 2x + 8, then x? 7 16. So, 45*3 = 135 Average of B and C = 43 So, 43*2 = 86 C = 135-86 = 55 Hence Average of B and C - C = 86-55= 31 So B is 31 |

The average weight of A, B and C is 45 kg. If the average weight of A and B be 40 kg and that of B and C be 43 kg, then the weight of B is: 31 kg
Solution: (A+B+C)/3 = 45 => A+B+C = 135 ....... (i) (A+B)/2 = 40 => A+B = 80 ....... (ii) (B+C)/2 = 43 => B+C = 86 ....... (iii) Putting value of A+B from Eq. (ii) into Eq. (i), we have: 80+C = 135 => C = 55 ....... (iv) Now, we put value of C from Eq. (iv) into Eq. (iii), B+55 = 86 B = 86-55 => B = 31 |
