Arrow The Educational Enigma

The Educational Enigma

The educational problems of Pakistan, or the solution of educational issues, are perhaps the most written about topic in the history of Pakistan. However mostly, the writers reproduce the material patronized by pseudo intellectuals. Lesser care has been devoted to doing research into the practical reasons of the failure of our education system in delivering the desired results. Virtually, all the education policies implemented so far have back fired and the standard and utility of education has gone down.

An in-depth analysis would reveal that our educational apparatus was designed by the English in order to produce a work force-the clerks- who may help them run the offices while the imported Englishmen were at the helms of affairs. After their demise, our leaders could not realize the need for a revolutionary change in the system and made do with the existing system.

Our educational apparatus, combined with social norms and values, has worked to create a ‘Talent Gap’ between the law makers and law enforcement agencies, and institutions. Let’s explain this talent gap in somewhat detail.
The most brilliant students join civil or military bureaucracy, and the average students, generally end up joining private organizations or setup private businesses. The back benchers, quarrelsome and below average students, become politicians.

Solely with the aid of corruption and their family background, these not-so-intelligent fools are, then entrusted with the responsibility of law making in the parliament. These people hardly know the act of law-making and therefore, depend on their secretaries-the bureaucrats. These bureaucrats look down upon their bosses, and consider then a fool.

Thus the machinery of our system that is responsible for the implementation of policies has no regard for those who enact those policies. These policies or politicians make, are faulty because they are not capable enough to come up with something better.

Until and unless this gap is reduced, and highly intelligent and talented individuals are made to come into politics, there is a little hope that our education system will deliver the good.
