In PCS exam there are two cadres :-

1. BCS Executive Branch (A.C)
2. BSS (S.O)

BCS Officers can perform duties at Field, Secretariat and attached departments. While BSS officers can serve at Secretariat and attached departments alone. No such difference in pays/privileges .... initial pay now a days 55 K Gross (vehicle + P.O.L, Govt: residency depends on availability). Initial training is must for both .... BCS 6 months ... BSS 4 months usually at Peshawar or Isb .... equal promotion opportunities for both (next promotion in 3 yrz).... service structure is expanding ... open door for deputations etc. BCS is a more appealing and charmful job than BSS due to field postings ... good future prospects in both services.

why this two-month difference in trainings of BCS & BSS?

Scondly,, a sctrt group officer can be posted in field( as AC/DC) or vise versa?

Dear the difference is due the nature of both jobs !

I Think no BSS Officer cant be posed as AC.!

BCS officers study land revenue courses for additional 2 months. BSS officers cannot get important/lucrative field postings i.e. A.C/D.C/Commissioner. While, they can be posted as ADC (General), AC (Pol) only.

No doubt AC post is more lucrative than SO but for geting a good station AC should have strong political links otherwise he would be posted as ADC or AC (poli) which are colorless postings.

Am i rite?

Well in Balochistan political backing is must for all lucrative posts ... whether its health,c&w,phe, s&gad, p&d, education etc .... but in case of BCS field posts this factor becomes more more pertinent.

Bpsc usually holds exams 3-4 months after the closing date of forms submission(in fact no fixed date for holding exams... sometime 5-6 months in pcs case ). And slips issued some 10-14 days before exam.

Default Renew/Revaping pcs syllabus
I strongly feel that syllabus of pcs should be reshaped according to modern trends. I felt some kind of confusion while going through sylbs of few subjects e.g in journalism syllabus its standard is given of degree class. But in fact in BALOCHISTAN this subject isnt taught in colleges. In the same line many other subjects have also unclear syllabus. In contrast, css syllabus is more clearer and is in form of topics...easy to understand and easier to prepare.

It is need of hour that pcs sylbs should be reshaped and synchronised more trends..
