Default A very weird question... Is anyone able to solve this? :confused:

A contractor has to build a bridge in 50 days. Initially he employed 20 men, but found that only half of the work has been completed in 30 days. How many more men he has to employ to finish the job in time?
A. 30
B. 10
C. 15
D. 20

30 is the answer.
D:M
30:20
20:M (Here 20 means the remaining days).
No when days would be less the men would be more so ratio would be inverse)
M/20 =30/20
M= 30/20 *20
M=30

5. A coffee shop sold 35 cups of coffee. Of these, 15 contained sugar and 12 contained milk. If 13 cups contained neither milk nor sugar, how many cups must have contained both sugar and milk?
A. 3
B. 5
C. 7
D. 8
E. 12
Cups containing milk or sugar = 15 + 12 = 27
However, this is not accurate, since we double counted cups that contain both milk and sugar. So we must subtract that amount. Let x = number of cups with both milk and sugar. Then

Cups that contain sugar or milk = 15 + 12 - x = 27 - x
Cups that contain neither milk nor sugar = 13
Total number of cups = 35
27 - x + 13 = 35
40 - x = 35
x = 5

D. 20
20men : 0.5 job : 30days
x more men are required to complete the remaining job in 20days
20+x : 0.5 job : 20days
while the job is a constant, more the number of men, lesser will be the days required for the job, hence
20/(20+x) = 20/30
20*30 = (20+x)*20
600 = 400+ 20x
20x= 200
x= 10
so 10 more men are required.

kindly solve it:

a) Rs 200
b) Rs 66
c) Rs 50
d) Rs 40
ans=66 how?

All the best and lots of luck to all for the test.

[QUOTE=Falak Ali;664586]kindly solve it:
if pencils are bought at Rs 48 per dozen and sold at 3 for Rs 15 then the total profit on 5 1/2 dozen is:
a) Rs 200
b) Rs 66
c) Rs 50
d) Rs 40
ans=66 how?

first calculate profit per pencil
i-e per pencil cost = 4
per pencil sale price = 5
so profit per pencil = 1
since there are 66 pencils in 5 1/2 dozens, by multiplying 66 with 1 you get 66 which is the ans

I prepared "Relationship between 2 sentences" questions notes last time and it came 100% as it is out of it. I am still sure, question would come from these as it is. Just cram all this, you surely would get full in this portion. 10/10
Here are the notes

Wish you all the best...............
