Aoa,

I.R is good enough. You may opt Int'l law along with I.R because the former's course resembles the latter's one. Sociology is better option among the given combination. I suggest you don't opt English literature and go for gender studies. The former wasn't scoring when it was 200 now nobody can predict its scoring trend. Whereas, the latter is newly introduced subject but seem easy as it's limited to women.
You can also opt Punjabi rather sociology, it's very easy and scoring subject from even sociology. Lastly, I'd say 'town planning' would be a better option. It's course is also short so you can opt it to complete your 600 marks from optional subjects.

Don't opt history subjects. It's a suggestion.

Apart from that, :- is wrong. Don't ever use it in exam unless your marks will be deducted. : is the right punctuation mark.

Good luck !

Stay blessed.

My optional subjects are : international relations , psychology , criminology , gender studies ...
I want to ask whether gender studies and criminology are scoring ? I also want to ask whether gender studies is more scoring than English literature?
Will be waiting for the response ..

For books you go the section "CSS optional subjects", and explore the relevant thread where you could easily find recommended books by the members. Further more, you also go through the "Book Selection" in the section of "Frequently Asked Questions". You can also look for recommended books by FPSC in the syllabus provided on their website.

As far as the scoring trend of GS and Criminology is concerned then they may be scoring because they are totally new subjects, and being opted by fewer people this time, and examiners might also be lenient in terms of marking papers.

As you have done Eng. Literature so you could fetch good marks easily in it. Gender studies could be scoring but if you want to save your time then go for english literature.

For recommended books, it's always better to have a look at the authors/books recommended by FPSC. You can find their recommendation on this link:
Revised Syllabus/Books CE-2016
Two to three books for each subject should be sufficient whichever you can easily find in local market or some libraries.

Criminology & Gender Studies are new and should be tried. Scoring trends will appear after couple of years.

Good Luck!
