Pakistan Affairs:

•I prepared every topic keeping in mind that I will not exceed 6-7 pages for a single answer. Supposedly Aligarh movement comprised of 7 pages in the book, I highlighted from those 7 pages a total of 2 pages worth of text book material and focused on memorizing it well
•All my answers had an introductory paragraph that did not exceed 5-7 lines but was very rich in content in explaining the concept that was later discussed.
•All questions had sub headings
•With in subheadings, where possible I bulleted each separate point
•At the end there was 7-8 line conclusion, summarizing the impact, advantages or disadvantages of whatever event discussed
•There was no repetition of any point
•My handwriting is normal (neither big nor small), I did not exceed 7 pages for an answer

good for you hat you worked so hard for the subjects.

Dear Ziakhan, I withdraw from any and every qurrel, with any one. i m extremly sorry that i aroused anger of one fruitful member of this forum. i didnot intend to do so. I have no personal clash with any one.
let us continue with our discussions. i also request forum members to put forward their views.

One of the most important papers, in css, these days, is general knowledge. in 2008 this paper inflicted havoc on many persons' result. General knowledge paper, from a practical stand point is comprised of three separate papers, each one of hundrad marks. These three papers are current affair , pakistan affair, and everdayscience. if u can trace dms of candidates even in this forum, you will find that alot of candidates have low numbers in current affairs, and pakistan affairs. even in previous years, u can follow the same trend. Whereas everday science paper, candidates have achievd even in nineties. So, it is a simple mathematics that one must work hard at evry day science if one wants to pass it.
But, many candidates neglect everday science at the cost of current affairs, and pakistan affairs. I m not saying that you should not prepare c.a and p.a at all, but i m advocating that u should spare a bulk of your time for everdayscience since it can fetch you 'sweet' numbers.
So, if you have for example 2 months to prepare for general knowledge. then allocate one complete month for EDS. and fifteen days for ca. another fifteen days for p.a
a word on how to prepare for these three subjects.
1. Everday science. dear friends, current trend is toward one best answer. in the paper, there are about 50 one best questions. think about it!! if u correct all, u will get 50 marks!!! these are solid marks. But, unfortunately, many candidates dont set these rights. In my view, the problem is with understanding of basic concepts. most aspirants are from Arts fields, they do not heed to science. or read it halfheartedly, and the result is that they dont attempt EDS. I think, you should read this subject from good books, and read it comprehensively. only this can help. There is no smart strategy for it after mcq portion was introduced. So, do not be deluded please.
infact, EDS which cud have been their strength now becomes their weakness. They stagger to just pass this subject.
Pls go through past papers, you will find that about 35 to 40% of paper is from biology portion. Therefore, Cover it!!! important areas to be done are CEll biology, current biological genetic factors. And phsiology. understand concepts of physciology well.
then read physics, chemistry, and astronomy. your mcqs will be covered Inshallah!
For Current affair, read widely newspapers and then discuss with your friends. argue with them. Form your own openions, do not just become mouthpiece of editors. read your local language newspaper along with dawn or thenews. Try to think creative in this paper.
For pakistan affair. i strongly recommend that you bought virtual university lectures on pakistan affairs, besides that read any good book suggested by many of our forum qualifiers.
So, if you get for example atleast 45 +45 +80 =170 in general. these numbers are good by any standard!!
best of the luck.

Hello.... !:

My strategy for CE 2010

- Make relevant notes
- Pray for success
- Live the life of social exile(mentally)
- Revise everyday whatever is covered
- Go for the kill in the first attempt i.e aim for the top ten
- Make it a matter of life and death.
- Solve all CSS papers (atleast previous 5)

My Optional Subjects are indo-pak history, constitutional law, business administration and political science.

I wish all the aspirants best of luck and respect to all the senior members here.

floydian,

first of all welcome to the forum.you have the same optional subjects as of mine except business ad. In place of B.ad I opted for IR. Your tips are very good but dont make it the matter of life and death.Life is more beautiful than css, incase we fail to pass css.

@ dr.atifrana

Thank you for the warm welcome sir.

Doctor sahab in my viewpoint, making CSS a matter of life and death is the only approach which can give the top position. No short cuts, no excuses and no day dreaming.
