Write something on any Topic(e.g., an expansion of any proverb), and get it checked by some renowned teacher or any senior who is quite an expert at this Job.

[B][I] [COLOR="Sienna"] One can write about anything. One may start writing about one's own daily routines, one may have writing practice by rewriting or reproducing the editorial of newspaper , one may write about current happening or current affairs and then one may have writing practice by writing expansion paragraphs or by attempting answers of questions from any subject.
In the beginning one may be one's own judge. I mean one may check one's own writing. I experienced that by checking one's own writing also one improves. Every time when one writes , one comes across certain difficulties. One may be at short of vocabulary , one may be using same words time and again , one may be confused about using proper preposition , proper spelling , proper expression and one may be finding difficulty in avoiding repetition of idea. I this way one gets conscious about one's weaknesses and starts working on eradicating these weaknesses and finding solutions. One definitely improves in this way. However , in later stage it is always advisable to get one's writings checked from some expert teacher or senior.

It depends on two things.
one's aptitude and one's picking ability.
Availability of time on one's disposal.
See , css is a competitive exam. One merely does not need to pass it , rather one has to surpass other aspirants. Therefore , one need to study maximum so that one may get into position to defeat other competitors and win better allocation. For this , make maximum use of your time. The more you study , the better would be your prospects of excelling. It has been often seen that hard work is the alternative of competence. While there is no alternative of hard work.

Hand writing!

i want to know as to how much the hand writing of a candidate counts? are there any additional marks for it?? one more thing, i have this tendency to make mistakes while writing and have to cut words or sentences at times due to errors, so does this result in negative marking or bad impact on the examiner??

My dear one's presentation does matter. A beautifully presented arranged answer would definitely compel the examiner to give more score. As well as handwriting is concerned , there are no additional marks for it. That is certain. However, a better and impressive hand writing definitely adds to the beauty and the clarity of the answer and the examiner is at ease while checking. While , on the contrary , a bad handwriting may offend the examiner and may make it difficult for the examiner to understand properly. In this way , you see , handwriting does matter. However, if one's handwriting is good enough that examiner can read it easily then it is only the content of your answer along with clear presentation which would be decisive in deciding your marks. The cutting while writing is not a good thing at all. Though it does not have defined negative marks , yet it blemishes one's presentation. Therefore , try to get rid of it and through practice and consistent effort devise a writing style which is clear and easy to understand and which has minimum cuttings. Whenever , you are writing something , be it anything, ranging from some personal note , any reminder , a list of things or anything , write consciously that you have to write is without cuttings. In this way you would develop a habit of writing without making this error. Usually it happens that for exam or study point of view we make practice carefully and we improve but when we are writing something casual , we are careless and we waste out effort which we made for correcting our deficiency. Hope you got my point ? Be alert , whenever you are writing anything , be that least important matter like list of bringing things from bazar or writing some cell number on paper in hurry.
