1. one subject at a time 2. as time is very short, make a list of topics to be studied for every subject (past papers and FPSC's syllabus); and divide them days-wise and do not go beyond those topics if you don't have time. 3. Don't go too deep into any topic. for every topic, just study equivalent to material that you could reproduce within 40 minutes (as during exams you could only give 35 to 40 minutes per question). 4. Give more days to deserving subjects like EDS, and vice versa. 5. Revise all subjects in the end. etc Hope this would help

Hello Werewolf,
Firstly, thank you for being so helpful to everyone on this thread. I had a query similar to the ones on here. I'm a business student with an MBA from Australia and wanted to inquire about the subjects i've chosen. They are: Business Administration European History International Relations Psychology I've been teaching Bachelor students HR and Marketing for the past 3 years and regularly teach English at Embassies and other organizations. Would it still be prudent for me to study these topics in depth or should I focus on the newer topics i.e. Islamiyat, Pakistan Affairs and Psychology? I have experience of the other subjects but considering the scope and the length of time i've spent away from them, what books would you recommend? I've taken your advice to go through the past papers and syllabus for information. I'm going to draw up a chart but my preference is to be efficient with my time. Thank you and advance for your help. Regards, Saqib |

Dear, all your subjects are good except IR, Why don't you opt Auditing and Accounting (200 marks) in place of Business ad: and IR. I guess A&A would be quite easy for you in light of your academic background. For European History, VD Mahajan is considered the best book. for more help regarding this subject, visit this thread http://www.cssforum.com.pk/css-optio...here-help.html For Psychology, i have posted 2 books, both are awesome. just stick to the syllabus and past papers and you wont go astray. those books + a lot of other stuff is in this thread http://www.cssforum.com.pk/beginners...aspirants.html and as far as A&A is concerned, it is your home-ground Hope these would help

Thank you for the European History and Psychology suggestions, will peruse those threads and grab the relevant books. As far as IR goes could you tell me why you would recommend against it? I felt the topics overlap with Current Affairs and provide some open interpretation. Also what would you suggest for Islamiyat? To be honest i've only studied it once so i'm quite lost. Thank you for the help! |

IR is not scoring. Islamiat, there are 2 type of topics in this subject, 1st conventional, 2nd non-conventional. conventional ones: 1. Translation of last 10 Surahs of Quran 2. Touheed and its effects on individual and collective life. 3. Concept of Judgement Day in Islam and its effects on individual and collective life. 4. Salaat, Soum and Zakaat etc pithily, all Islamic teachings related topics in current affairs perspective. Non-Conventional Ones: 1. Islam, the complete code of life 2. Status of Woman in Islam 3. Morality in Islam 4. Banking System in Islam and its merits (especially as opposed to current usury dominant leading to thus fiscal crisis) 5. PEACE in Islam etc etc pithily, all those topics that involve some sort of problems in today's world. While studying, be critical and generate your own opinions according to the current scenario. collect number of quotable Quranic Ayahs, Ahadith, and other stuff to quote during exams. Focus on grabbing more and more knowledge so that you could mold it during exams according to questions. as far as conventional topics are concerned, they could be covered from any good book of islamiat as you like. For non-conventional topics i have posted an Encyclopedia (interactive) in my thread http://www.cssforum.com.pk/beginners...aspirants.html
