AssalamoAlaikum, Sir hamza...i am a medical student, almost done with my studies, and will be graduating in january iA..
Personally, reviewing the material given here, tips and everything, i find this exam to be distinct for doctors, though the history is that many of us qualify it.
I have a years preparation time iA for this exam..
My very first query is about optional subjects, I have been thinking to keep geography, british history...both of these count upto 400... i need 200 marks subject now, I thought of keeping botany of zoology but i think that i cant take up two science subjects as per rule.
Psychology is out of question, its nothing mbbs related.

Please..Please..Please..I beg you all..First go through the complete thread and the relevant threads on the forum.There is a lot of information given about the strategy for preparation,the books and the individual preparation of the subjects.Most of the questions that you people ask have already been answered before.You only need to search for them.

Drlabyrinth,

Go through the subject groups of CSS-exam,you would know what sybjects you can have in conjunction with those that you already have.And who said Psychology has nothing to do with Medical education?100 mark paper of Psychology purely relates to human biology.Have a look at the past paper and the syllabus.

@hamza
not 100 marks is related to mbbs. its only 20 % or 40 marks.only these topics related to mbbs:
paper 1:
Nervous System: Structure and functions of cells, Central and Peripheral Nervous System, Endocrine system

paper 2:
Pre-natal development and infancy: Genetic Factors, Hereditary transmission and chromosomal abnormality, Stages. Developmental irregularities, Psychological and physical characteristics of the infant. Methods of studying infant behaviour.
Psychoneurotic disorders, Psychosis, Character disorders, Psychosomatic disorders.

rest of syllabus is not even touched in mbbs or slightly touched in development portion

@hamza
may be they just told you in a casual way.
here it is:
Nervous System: Structure and functions of cells, Central and Peripheral Nervous System, Endocrine system-------related to Neuroanatomy

Pre-natal development and infancy: Genetic Factors, Hereditary transmission and chromosomal abnormality, Stages. Developmental irregularities, Psychological and physical characteristics of the infant. Methods of studying infant behaviour. ---------related to Embryology and development

Psychoneurotic disorders, Psychosis, Character disorders, Psychosomatic disorders.----only this part is related to psychiatry

This is only for MBBS.diagnosis topic is also touched in psychiatry.Rest of topics have nothing to do with psychology.
In css exams,only 20 marks question in paper1 and similarly 20 marks question in paper 2 with 4-5 mcqs in addition

@Hamza Bhai...
Je Je, bhai I have gone through most of the subject selection threads but most of them are from other fields, didnt find any post by anyone from my medical family...
Isleay i was asking about it...Geography i selected, cz of its marks and the much i have seen here, its a scoring subject. British history, too cz its scoring and its 200 marks.
Now, i am confused what to select further
@deadlydoctor
mmmm, Right sir, psychiatry wesay bhi ham medicine mey buhat kam he dekhtay hain, although emphasis buhat hota hay ispar...and once again you are right that css psychiatry is much vast and diffierent from mbbs wali.

European history is better than british history.Its more scoring.
Zoology me me ne koi ziada score atay dekha nahy,even doctors ka bhi.Psychology is still a better option.

Ok, now.Sir...having gone through psychology syllabus reviews and books about it, as you have suggested it again, i feel i would go for it.
I was thinking about ML and forestry but ML doesnt seem to be scoring and many candidates seem to be complaining about the Mulla book(recommended) for its lenght and finicky details.
So, i put myself with Geography, european history and psycho.
Geography, i noticed is kinda fine but marks 80s tak nahi hain ksi kay.
European history again follows the same trend(and its course seems extensive)
Psycho is fine...
Could you kindly comment on this subject selection and enlighten me what a high score,65-70 or above it.

Default Hamza Salik

Sir let me put forward my last unanswered query again =)

First of all if you could kindly tell us whether it was your first attempt or otherwise..my second query is regarding current affairs..sir as far as my rough knowledge is concerned should one prepare current affairs till the month of January, as usually it during this time the paper is designed?? And if its true this would give us some time to prepare the rest of the compulsories.

Regards.
