STP of Income Tax Group
STP of Income Tax
The Academy (DOT) is situated in Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. The total duration of the STP varies every year. Last year it was a 8 months programme (7 months + 1 month of Final Exams).
During the STP, a probationer studies:
1. Income Tax Law
2. Sales Tax Law
3. Federal Excise Act, 200X
4. Civil Service Laws and Other Laws of Pakistan
5. Financial Accounting
6. Information Technology
Income Tax Law is further divided into 3-4 parts and each is taught separately by a subject specialist. For instance, IncomeTax Foundation Course, Income Tax Audit, Income Tax Enforcement etc.
Civil Service Laws include:
a) Rules of Service (Appointment, Probation, Confirmation, Seniority Rules, Leave Rules, Transfer Rules and so on)
b) Some Artciles of the Constitution of Pakistan
c) Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Selected Sections/Clauses)
d) A couple of other Laws/Acts (Selected Sections/Clauses)
IT mein one studies:
a) MS OFFICE
b) Tax Management System
During the STP, probationers are evaluated via:
1. Monthly Exams.
2. Surprise Quizes/Tests (if instructor wants to give)
3. Assignments
4. Mid-Term Exams (for Subjects covered in the first term only)
5. Final Comprehensive Exam (For all the subjects covered in the STP)
6. DG's evaluation
After the STP, the FPSC conducts the Final Passing Out Exam (FPOE). All the subjects/courses undertaken during the STP are tested (by the FPSC this time). It is mandatory for a probationer to pass all the papers in FPOE for one's CONFIRMATION in the Service.
After the FPOE, Income Tax and Customs people join the IBA, Karachi for one year MBA (TM) programme. It is also mandatory to pass the MBA (TM) as per the rules of the IBA.
Posting:
After qualifying the STP and MBA(TM), Income Tax and Customs Officers are posted in the field.....etc......so it takes at least one and a half year after the CTP!

Assalam-o-alaikum!
In the initial days of their posting ITG officers may or may not get vehicle....it depends upon the place of postings... some of our seniors have vehicles others have not... Those in Enforcement wing do get official vehicle. They even get 7000 rupees for petrol(if vehicle is there). They are given Suzuki Potohar. But now the old vehicles are being replaced with now ones. Potohars are being auctioned. FBR foundation has launched a scheme i.e. interest free loans for vehicles, repayables over 20 years.
All occupational groups have the option of deputation. ITG officers are also on deputation to other puclic sec organizations/deptts.

About STP of Income Tax
Hi all,
As someone has raised query about STP of Income Tax: Yes every probationer of Income Tax group has to undergo MBA in Tax Management from IBA Karachi. The duration of MBA is one year. Rest of the courses, being taught at Directorate General of Training and Research Direct Taxes, Sutluj Block, Near Moon Mkt. Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore (Known as DOT), are Income Tax Law, Accounting and Bookkeeping, Examination of Books of accounts, computer courses, etc. Training is really tough during STP. However there is state of the art academy with every facility one can imagine in Pakistan.
One who fails to qualify in first attempt looses his seniority among those who qualify and one who fails to qualify for three chances can not be promoted to next grade, unless he's given some special chance to qualify.
Feel free to ask any further query
best wishes

@ waqarabro
Well the priorities depends from person to person..... for some: time is more important than of a better career & for others career matters the most.... !!!
SO it is not possible that the priorities of all the persons are the same & thats perhaps a reason why Pk youth hv diversity in chosing profession for their future; no doubt about that the civil service of Pakistan provides a shining career for any1 whether male or female....!!! That was perhaps the reason I was praising those who accept this challenge in their life.
However, in a few cases, people do give preference to career other than csp according to the life & circumstances in which they live or like so as is with me (though still I managed to appear for css 2007 exams but wasn't among the successful candidates; now perhaps I may appear in 2010). No offence to any1. hope u got my point.
@ Kashifaslam
Sir, kindly let us know plz about the time duration between STP & start of MBA at IBA Karachi for ITG Probationers. Thanking you very much.
regards,
Hira butt

Assalam-o-alaikum
kindly tell me if MBA(TM) is a general requirement for everyone opting for income tax and custom and excise groups despite the background like MBA,CA,CMA etc? in other words is anyone exempted from MBA(TM) on the basis of previous academic background involving tax etc?
