In IRIS, job description of an ACIR is to pass assessment orders after conducting audit of income and sales tax matters. There is also recovery of tax included. In offices such as Large Tax Office, Corporate Tax office there is segregation such as some deal with assessment, others recovery of tax while others work on legal matters. At present, owing to policy of government to facilitate taxpayers there is minimum field work.

IRS is a good group especially after the very *lucrative* departments of sales tax and excise were taken from Customs and given to IRS in 2009-10. There is a bit more competition, compared to PAS, for promotion as its a large group and seats in BS-21 and 22 are limited.

Probably the best part about the 2 FBR groups (IRS and Customs) is that you'll be on the double pay scale throughout your career i.e your starting salary will be 90k+. In comparison, AC PAS and ASP earn about 45k at start.

Yes, I've heard of the double salary perk but there are contradictory statements by officers regarding it.
Are you currently serving in IRS? |
