you can prepare idioms from any source.Basically all are same everywhere. As far as exploring is concerned,i think it is enough to prepare idioms mentioned in this. They are 500 or so and more than enough.

I'm not sure about Exploring the world of English but there is a book of English Idioms by McMordie .. Its recommended by FPSC and you can score 100 percent in idioms by studying that alone ..

Best of luck ..

Regards ..

Your choice bro .. But tell you what .. Pick up the book i mentioned, search through last ten year's past papers and you won't find a single idiom out of that book ..

Reason: Recommended by FPSC ..

P.S: Highly recommended for those who don't wanna miss a single mark in exams ..

Regards ..

dear friend, "Exploring the world of English" is not enough.u must jot down all the idioms that hv appeared in past papers since 1971 till 2011 and find out their meanings in dictionary or Exploring.besides , do cram all the idioms of the Exploring book.also memorise the idioms being used in the Dawn newspaper on regular basis.this strategy wl suffice ur need.

do not consult books like the one recommended by FPSC, that is, by Mc Mordie as one of our friends suggested u above in the thread.that is a complete book of idioms u cannot cram it in ur whole life.it contains about more than 5000 idioms.and also nowadays it seems too have become outdated as it does not contain recently coined idioms.just try to cram useful idioms around 1000 to 1500.these are more than enough.

Thanx

I like your idea .. But I don't think its worth anything cramming all or some idioms .. Cramming se to cheezain bhool bhi jati hain .. I just go through them everyday, understand what a particular idiom means and try to form a sentence using that .. Or bass jab bhi time milay revise ker lenay se sab kuch yaad bhi rehta hai ..

Besides, that book doesn't contain 5000 idioms .. 5000 is too much to cram or memorise for 5 marks .. Though every mark counts, especially for Punjab candidates and in the new scenario for KPK as well ..

Regards ..

brother sometimes u need to cram them.otherwise u wud mix their meanings up.there r some that u memorise at first instance as and when u see them but some are very hard nuts to crack and their sentence formation also like cutting a Gordian knot.i referred my suggestion to every1.u might be an intelligent person in getting to grips with them.
