Well dear, its not a difficult task. English is not our mother language. We need to read it again and again to improve and enhance our vocabulary. In this context,

I would suggest you to buy Word Smart by Princeton Review. It offers immense chances to ameliorate your vocab.

Besides that each word is provided with two or three sentences to make your concept clear about using that particular word.

You should read Dawn editorials- at least 2 in a day. When you would practice this for a month...You would undoubtedly find excessive advancement in this respect.

Thanks,

Engr. Shoaib Awan

my dear fallow celeron , as English language isn't our mother tongue but still it has become official language round the globe. As far as reading news papers , having heavy dictionaries (round about 1kg of mass) and noting down word by word, it's quit good practice but i am not at all agree to having this dull practice . it might not me acceptable for many people..
It's a matter of common observation as far as reading and writing is concerned , we can do it easily but for speaking it's really difficult..
dear i won't recommend you dictionaries or other reading stuff but listening listening listening and more listening,,,,

here i am sending you some links through you might be able to listen easy English,,, listening a single article for single time isn't enough dear listen it as many times till you memories every every word,,, learn words by heart by listening not through writing them on notebook,,,, thanks

Default vocab........

yp Usman is quite right........jotting down every word from dictionary and thn storing it, would be a mammoth task to finish..
Right approach is key to css exams.I would suggest you to be specific in exam prep.
For vocab Barron,s GRE is one of the finest book to build your word bank in addition to that read some english newspaper and note down the uncommon words.

AOA

Reading English newspaper is the best for enhancing your vocabulary.

Besides this download WORDWEB English talking dictionary software, it tells you all the possible meanings of a word, also contains examples( sentences).

It will help you while studying on computer. Its really helpful, and saves much time as you have to just type the word to know its meaning.

Regards
