Sorry to say but both of you are incorrect! as mentioning time-frame is compulsory!

we saw fewer films than that of last year.

is wrong choice!

We saw fewer films this year than that in the last year OR
we saw fewer films this year than last year.

Are correct ones!

your first proposed sentence is also incorrect...
"than that in the last year"is incorrect.
rather you should have written "than that of the last year"

regards.

[QUOTE=Mashaaal;875306]i have already solved a number of pastpapers during my preparation for ce15 , so it will not be a problem for me to share that material here. lets complete all these sentences first and then move to past papers please.
i would like to add one thing that i have cleared the screening test for assistant director IB and now i have to appear in the English descriptive test soon. so after completing the practice for corrections, i would be seeking help FROM BOTH OF YOU (meme and aamish)in narrations. hope it will not bother you

i am working on fifth and sixth part, will post that till evening.

@aamish
We saw much less films than last years.
(We saw much less films this year than the last year.
Ye tukka mara hai...)

i think the correct sentence will be like..
we saw much less films than that of last year.
(meme ...check it)

We should solve all these papers on our own. Mashaal please share 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015 paper. Meme please share 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013 papers. I will share 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014 paper. We should do this in sequence. Mashaal share 1st paper, Meme share 2nd and I will share 3rd. In this way we will be able to check each others work.

I am extremely busy now a days. So we should do this in up coming month. Till then, you guys can work on narrations. I will try to participate daily.

Mashaal wish you best of luck for AD IB test. I will pray for your success sis.

And yes your right. Both sentences were wrong. Thanks for correcting them.

Welcome in thread. I have quoted few sentences from your post. I think they have some grammatical mistakes. I will try to correct them but as I am not sure how to correct them so hopefully other members will come forward to pinpoint mistakes and rectify them.

1) They have done their duty, should be rewarded.
OR
They have done their duty so they should be rewarded.

2) I doubt that he would come.

3) He asked me where I did come from.

4) He enjoys worldwide reputation.
'Most' is not used with 'worldwide'.

5) He availed the opportunity.
Preposition 'of' is not used with 'avail'.

6) He has died today.
'Die' is not used in passive voice.

7) I did not know that honesty is the best policy.

Hey,

A few corrections I'd like to make:
The gold is more costly than the silver
Correction: Gold is costlier than silver

Gold and silver are material nouns, under the rules for the definite article, 'the' is not used before them.

2) He is a man of words
Correction: He is a man of his word.
This is an idiom which means that he keeps his promises.
