Everyone is followed by himself/herself in sentences...i think u guys mixed it with use of one which is followed by one.for instance..
one should be respectful to one's teachers (although this usage is now considered obsolete)

"Everyone" should be followed by "them" or "themselves".
Using "himself" gives the impression that you're inclined towards gender discrimination.

Default dilemma

in this case u can do 1 thing at a time...either write correct english or avoid gender discrimination!!

its everyone (singular) not everythem!

@Xenia
What was that last part supposed to mean???Didn't seem to make too much sense.

What I am suggesting is:"Everyone should decide for themselves what to do about it."I attended an academy some time back and this was what I suggested to the english teacher.Although it wasn't quite what other people were coming up with but the teacher accepted my version after a moment's thought.

People,this sentence needs one major correction.EVERYONE is written as one word.You could look that up in absolutely any dictionary.Its always a single word.

Plural (themselves) for singular (everyone)? No way.

In common usage,"themselves" is becoming increasingly popular.
But yes,u are right Last Island.That might be so in css because here u are required to follow a bunch of idiot,outdated rules.

Things increasingly popular are not necessarily right. Besides, written English is always different from spoken English. And one has to follow the grammar rules strictly in an examination hall esp. in English paper specifically designed to check your grammar and skills.

Like fashion and couture,language too changes over time.Worn-out usage falls into disfavour and becomes archaic.In order to acknowledge change you don't necessarily have to brush aside grammatical rules.Of course grammatical errors keep a message from being understood properly.But as long as the meaning to be delivered is being clearly brought out in the sentence,there is no reason why the language should not expand to accomodate that change.Linguists across the world understand this emerging trend.I guess its going to take ages for the examiners in our part of the world to wake up to this fact.
