We can use singular verb when two things are connected to each other.
like:
Cart and donkey is/has.....

But, Evil and Sufferings are not connected to each-other So it is better to use plural verb.

I may be wrong.

I think 'evil and suffering' is sort of a compound word and should take a singular verb/helping verb.

It's all about 'and' here. 'And' is coordinating conjunction; expressing two elements/nouns to be taken together. And when two nouns are taken together they become plural. And with plural we, of course, use 'Have' and not has.
Evil and suffering have.
Evil or suffering has.
Ali and Aslam are going..
Ali or Aslam is going..

That is what I was asking about. Plural verb was to be used, indeed.

Off courese two nouns combined by 'and' should normally take plural verb. However, when the nouns/words refer to the same person/thing, it should take a singular verb. 'evil and suffering' is usually used together as a one unit. This is why, i think it most probably should take singular verb not plural.

Refer to the following links and try to search for the combination: 'evil and suffering', you will find singular verb:

http://biologos.org/questions/problem
http://www.thatreligiousstudieswebsi...ring_intro.php
http://carm.org/why-there-evil-and-suffering-world

Again, my assumption may not be valid. But one thing is for sure that if 'evil and suffering' refers to the same thing it will take singular verb otherwise plural verb.

Yes, Same I had said in very first post if EVIL and SUFFERING resemble to one thing then singular verb was needed. Matter is, if it refers to one thing or not.
There is not evil and suffering but there is S with sufferings which creates confusion.

I've found a sentence where evil and suffering are taken not as a unit.

"....Thus all evil and human suffering are traced to that one moment in time".
Utah Local News - Salt Lake City News, Sports, Archive - The Salt Lake Tribune

So we conclude that it depends on the context. If we were to use it as a single unit, we would use singular verb and vice versa.
