no restriction to use if or whether?
i think minor difference must exist.
if no difference then why 2 words use in one condition?

In direct and indirect we use the word that is most suitable.
There is no restriction to use "whether"or"if.. But always use which is suitable according to the sentence.

Avail,enjoy,revenge,these are transitive verbs. Every year we see this type of sentence for correction in exam.
