Causes of not getting a college degree
"Everybody is genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability of climbing a tree, it will live it's whole life believing it is stupid." said Albert Einstein. He was referring to education system of that time, however, analysis is equally applicable to education system of today. That is based on equality - judging all fish as well as cat ob bases of climbing tree - and not on justice. Greater portion of population of world is not getting college degree. However , there are many causes of not getting college degree.
Primary cause of not getting a college degree is financial. Many people can't afford college degree. Majority of people of the world , work dusk to dawn but are able to earn merely enough to meet two ends meals. Most countries provide free education on elementary level but college education cost a fortune, so this class of society is unable to give college education to their offspring. Other group is those who start earning at young age. Boys and girls from poor families start to work at early ages, of as early as 7 years old. They grow with responsibilities of their family's finance on their shoulders, so at times, even they have enough money but they prefer not to study college. Last one are those living away from big cites. Generally, the bigger the cities the better the educational institutions, so those living away from big cities need to do extra efforts for college education, i.e leaving home, and bearing extra expenses of travel , rent of accommodation and more. Due to those extra efforts and expenses it become difficult for these student to earn a college degree.
Another reason of not getting college degree is psychology of people. Increasing number of people youngsters think college is not necessary. They support this idea with the examples of college dropout millionaires and geniuses , who are successful and have not college degree. Also there are those who believe in conspiracy theories. They see college education as channel of programming the masses, and making them slaves of the elite. Some see college education as a mechanism to produce perfect workers for industries and hence creating slaves for capitalism . Whatever their belief might be, for them, it is matter of choice not to get college degree.
Finally, there are those fishes who can't climb; the student with learning disabilities. A study suggest that about 25 percent people suffer with one or other learning disorder. The most prominent is dyslexia . People with dyslexia have difficulty with spelling words , telling the directions , keeping track of lines while reading and more. If not detected at early age it become very difficult for them to have higher education. ADHD is another learning disorder which make it difficult for person to concentrate and focus , hence making study most difficult task, and lagging behind in this highly competitive education system. Last, is the least known disorder it is related to memory loss. Be is short term or long term memory loss , people with this kind of problem suffer so much. All the above mentioned disorders in one way or other making it near to impossible for student to get a college degree.
In a nutshell , either due to inability to afford , or matter of choice or even be it neural disorder, people do not get a college degree. Number of these people is increasing day by day, this could be avoided by introducing more flexible education system, and designing an education system based on justice not equality .
