What if you know how to write an essay but have no idea what to write in it ?
This might sound confusing to some . maybe i am the only one who can relate . so here goes .
almost always when we give an exam , take any subject for an example . we have books , a really helpful thing called syllabus , at least we have a idea ( no matter how tiny it is ) that what kind of question will be asked , like they are never gonna ask about Shakespeare,s love life in geography ,s exam . but story of my life i am stuck . there are countless books on exactly how to write an essay , how to make an outline etc . but we dont have a single idea what will be asked . or am i missing something ?. or do examiner expect us to have a knowledge of EVERYTHING . how can we prepare for it if we dont know what will be asked . it literally could be anything . from " write abc " to " what came first , a chicken or an egg " . or should i just take a few topic out of the air and start preparing . ( i have been told that i ask too many questions , at the moment i am standing in pitch black and dont know if there,s even a way out " ) |

I think we should prepare recurrent areas/topics first then expanding our knowledge to other areas if we have time because the domain of essay is so big that it would be impossible for us to cater everything. Past papers can help us decide what are the important topics that are repetitive in nature and by figuring that out we can make a better decision that what should and should not be prepared.

"What if you know how to write an essay but have no idea what to write in it "
Common issue with everyone. What I suggest you, read as much as you can, novels, history books, anything you like (Of good writers), in any language Urdu or English(I prefer Urdu books). It will improve your expression and sentence structure. Both of them are key players in any writing. Many people tell you write as much as you can, but what I believe, writing is useless, unless you don't know what to come first and what should be at the end of your article. So conclusion is, first go to any library, issue few books you like, and then just read them, there is no need to remember anything, just enjoy the reading with music if you like. After 1 month, you will feel huge difference. |

The trick is to write an essay or two with no prior knowledge about the given topic. It might put you under a lot of stress but it's for your own good. Manufacturing something out of nothing is the greatest asset that almost everyone has, albeit on different levels. It would also bring out your general opinion on a given issue and make it easier for you to make a smooth transition to your essay.
It would give you a general idea on how to organize your ideas and form a basic structure to your essay. Last but not least, have some self-confidence and give it a go! |

All those tips are wrong. Just plain wrong and full of impractical boring advice:
This is the trick. Important Essays Outlines Pick and choose and make an outline. Google the topic. You don't have to write an outline from scratch in your first practice essay or 2nd or 3rd or as long as you aren't comfortable. Be patient with yourself and "Get it checked"
