@Shallow
Is it suitable to highlight headings in the essays? No one suggests to do that.

@ aariz

Yeh I think u should highlight headings in the essay, cos I appeared in CE-2008 and got 49 in essay, I highlighted the headings and made my essay's visual impression as good as i could.

Good Luck

Thumbs up

I think that the most important causes of the failure in essays are:

over-confident selection of topic:- this mistake is made even by some brilliant students.they select a topic that they think would hv hardly been attempted by any other.by this they want to prove their worth.it is worthwhile to stand as distinguished, but what actually happens in these cases is that they often misunderstand the topic and its essence and get confused in mid of their essays.for example they go for philosophical essays which often happen to be quite ambiguous and misleading.
i think that its not the topic selection that is going to attract your examiner or give u some desirable score or distinction, but what u write is going to matter no matter how common the topic is.

using grandiloquent and pompous vocab:- this is another blunder made by the brilliant students.they use such complicated and rarely used vocab that their examiner is often confused and irritated.the students should try to impress their examiner with the flawless and attractive writing style, arrangement,organisation,and coherence of the substance being input.they shud facilitate the assessor not confuse him/her.if they confuse him/her,they lose in the battle-ground.they hv to convey their opinion as easily and logically as possible.

paradoxical paragraphs:- this is also a common disease prevailing.this blunder is not usually made by some highly competitive students, but unfortunately by the new entries or beginners.it is sometimes also made by some brilliant students.in one paragraph they hold one particular opinion, while in subsequent paragraphs they lose their consistent approach, and goof suddenly by initiating an argument that they had been going against since the very start.this makes them immature in the eyes of their examiner.this leads even the brilliant students to an unexpected failure.

in search of adventures:- some students make another highly inauthentic blunder.they start criticising the govt of Pakistan in the manner that is wanton and illogical.it goes without saying that there are some irrelevant and misleading policies made and followed by every govt anywhere in the world and they deserve criticism.but the criticism must be constructive in order to strengthen the same govt and to guide it to a reasonably correct path and not destructive so as to uproot it by radical and revolutionary tactics.the students do this.sometimes even the brilliant students fall prey to this approach.they shud make sure that the govt they wish to be selected and appointed by wl never appoint such frankensteins.
THANK U ALL.

@QAU
yes,u ve rightly pointed out certain basic problems that cause failure to majority of the candidates.Especially,over-confidence and misinterpretation of the topic.I would reiterate that misinterpretation is a real problem.Apart from it,due to lack of practice and limited time in the paper,candidates fail to properly conclude their essays in an organized mannerThis creates a very bad impression and leads to an undesired failure.

With regards,
ASAD

its was a common mistake this time in css-2009.most of the students failed the essay "POWER OF MEDIA" and confused it with "ROLE OF MEDIA".and u know why did it really happen?? just bcoz they had prepared the essay on "media an its role" and when they saw anywhere this word "Media" in the question paper, they thought that they had got the topic that they really wished to write on.

sir u r really serving as a source of inspiration for us.

@ abbasi_faheem

Dear Faheem, what topic did you attempt? And what was its length, I mean the number of pages?

@ Purab Sarhan

Dear I attempted "Moral depravity is the root cause of poverty". The length was around 14-15 pages, Being an economic concerned I could manage to write much better, but due to some problem with my spellings I could not manage to score good. This time will also prefer to go for some economic concerned topic. Hope for some better score this time. By the way have u previously attempted CSS or this is ur first attempt.
