I wouldn't really call it a luck (prayers, yes) until I know I escaped narrowly but all I am saying is that one should not be disappointed if he/she is unable to follow all the strict guidelines that are normally suggested. I have seen people give up after essay paper thinking that they won't pass so there is no point in giving other papers but when results came out they passed essay. Yes, majority failed in essay in 2009 but if you know that your English is good then be confident. I was probably in despair coz I didn't seek any expert opinion on my wirting, style etc.

I wish you a best luck

Yeah I am agree there that most of time, we stop even lose hope in getting success. So, what about your other subjects? Did yoou seek any guideline or not, there as well?

@ Nageen.

Yes, i mastered all those word lists given in Barron's GRE book. There are 3991 words in that list. It took 3 months to study them. Daily practice is needed. I used a register for that and noted down all the words; 100 words daily. After every three days revise the words that you learnt three days back. Try it. I was at times exhausted but kept moving.

@Surmount
Yes, I sought guidance from a CSP while preparing Pak Affairs, Islamiat and ofcourse Current Affairs as I had never even read a newspaper before. So it was pretty much compulsory subjects because I was located in a relatively remote area. So I lacked all the widely available notes which are a complete recipe for success and had to struggle alot. Its better to have prepared answers for specific questions rather than wandering all over the scope of a subject like me.
I guess most of us prepare optionals by ourselves so that's how I did and it was pretty much a roller-coaster ride.

GoodLuck with your preparation!

Is it right to hit the topic in beginning just after mentioning brief background?

Dont use words about whom meanings you are not confirm. Remember, you are writing essay so do not over load it with facts and figures. Try to use simple and familiar expresion. There should be a sequense in your thoughts.
Strictly follow your outline. Do not repeat ideas and words just to increase words.

Choose topic on which you can write easily and which is according to your interest, mostly stydents try to pick hot issues. I wrote on Co-Education last year. My friends dont appreciate my selection at that time but i cleared and most of them didnt.
