In fact these days I keep on shuffling between English, CA and Essay, as per this criteria.

No one can say surely that how much he who has been prepared.

Suppose i do prognosis that it is 80% completed because sindhi subject is remaining and indo pak paper 2 needs to be revised.

Moreover,it is natural fact that students do forget the subjects which are already read by them.i would like to suggest them make points of all subjects and read them in the last days of the exam inshallah u all will perform greatly in the exam.

Well although im nt appearin this tym but my 1st time xperience told me tht at least in the compulsory exams its nt the prep in the last few days b4 exams tht matterz but ur over all knowledge tht u have incorporated in ur mind over da period of ur entire academic background plus ur prep fr css. I dnt knw it it happens wid all the people or nt but wen i used 2 go 4 my compulsory papers i cant recall a thing just b4 exam tht i yes i remem this one. My brain seemed 2 me 2 be all clear but once i ll start 2 write down a answer things ll come 2 my minds tht i had studied months back. Dere r flash backs.

One interesting incident tht i wud like 2 share is tht during EDS paper at least there were 4-5 MCQs nd 2 short questions tht i never studied during my prep fr css but i could do them coz i recalled them from my FSc days nd some even from Matric So i ll say tht css is a test of ur entire life knowledge nd nt just the 5,6 months u put in specifically fr ths.

In ur optional.... yes the desperate efforts in the end might pay u off!! but in compulsory more often then nt the papers set test ur abilities beyond ur prep of 6,7 months

All this is my personal observation nd im no authority so anyone may differ

Ranjha Sahib is pretty right. i would add something to it. css is about your over all educational record and background. whether it be 1 year or 10 days it does not matter at the end of the day if you are unable to pen it down. my cousin appeared last year and he cleared. he said that in every paper you would feel like having loads to write. you won't have time. therefore you need to express yourself in as few a words and as precisely and clearly as you can. unfortunately back here in pakistan, we are used to being verbose. trying to show off with our vocab which sometimes add to the troubles. when you write more, and write un-necessary stuff you tend to make grammatical, structural and spelling mistakes..

anyways my prep is almost complete but i feel blank at times hehe...but i wont panic inshallah.

I will also like to second the openion of the above persons.
CSS is not at all about craming fews questions and reproducing them in the examination , rather the questions asked are really thought provoking demanding your own analysis and whic i m sure cannot be made in a mere preparation of few months.Yes its the sum total of your entire academic career and the books you read during your life and the different programmes you watched during your life and the different talks shows etc.
So i think that i order to secure good position one doesn't need to isolate oneself in a lonely room rather it demands greater observation and indulgance in different activities.
For example the movies on mughal rather can be of graet help to the people who have opted indo-pak history.
Thus in a nut shell the(whatever i have heard from the seniors) the key to css is good general knowledge and strong hold on english language.

regards

Ali

Default The CSS Dilemma (dedicated to CE-2010 aspirants)

Oh! Have mercy on me, you draconian EDS
Crammed the whole of you, so you may bless
The discoveries ; the inventions drive me nuts
But whilst penning down altogether, my mind shuts

Oh My! Bless my soul you eerie geography
Grasp all my attention and make me so geeky
The meadows, the plateaues, the oceans & landforms
I am not a geographer to know their transforms

Oh God! Fill each my brain cell with current affairs
Whether Hakimullah is alive or dead who cares?
The war on terror and the combat against militancy
Don’t know how to analyse pertaining to AfPak Strategy

Oh No! how poor soul is gonna attempt the essay?
The most spooky thing ; causing utmost dismay
The economic recession & repercussions of global warming
The depletion of ozone layer through CFCs is alarming

Oh you Pakistan affairs! you are so inextricable
The NRO and NFC are proving to be inexplicable
Still sticking to brook the boring constitutions
The food insecurity, energy crisis & their implications

Oh this inevitable Islamiat, how shall be outlived
Catering with the complexities leave me so grieved
The complications of Jihad Vs Terrorism are sine cura
And making me to yearn for a nice way to diaspora

Oh! How to come up with this technical sociology
Has proved to be as tough as the mazes of astrology
The social stratification, this deviance & social behavior
The only cup of coffee is ‘Bureaucracy’ of Max Weber

Oh my goodness! What are you upto Journalism?
The widespread hue and cry for the press freedom
How can I understand the undigestable jargon?
I wish I was a journalist to be its whole paragon

Oh! Too much is the comprehension & precis writing
The idioms , the pair of words are a little too frightening
No prior knowledge complements the direct indirect
Reading ‘incorrect’ correct of the correct incorrect

Oh! Yet another to be covered i.e. Muslim law
Giving me nightmares, filling poor me with awe
The void contracts, the legislation, the validation
The perplexities of marriage, divorce and pre-emption

Oh my baby! The only easygoing is Business Ad
But the ratio-analysis of finance still make me mad
The management so motivational, I am loving it
The concept of 4 Ps of marketing keep me so fit

Oh Heavens! Nothing occupies my mind but this CSS
So darn demonized syllabus, how can one care less?
Oh God! Please confer upon me the desired outcome
Or else I wont be able to show my face to dad & mum…..
