This was my 1st attempt, and I have to admit the experience is pretty unique and mind gobbling at the same time.

Examination Center: The atmosphere was not so bad, the staff there was very helpful, and just try not to carry a mobile phone, and any other item which is prohibited, it makes life so much easier. I was placed in Govt College for Women, the building is quite dull and need of renovation but obviously it should not be a matter of grave concern as I was only there for the exams.

Essay: The first paper, I was very nervous, couldn't get any sleep the night before, I prepared global warming but I was heartbroken to see that it was not one of the questions. I did panic for few minutes, and then finally selected a topic on terrorism, I started brainstorming, created skeleton arguments in my head within 30 minutes. I was finally calm by this stage, ready to write the essay, I started writing and finished within 2 hours, I wrote about 13 pages which is more than sufficient to pass the paper. I had 30 minutes left to check the paper. Although I did panic for few minutes but still I was able to get a hold of myself, I was quite content with my performance, keeping my fingers crossed!

English Precis: Surprisingly the precis was very easy this time but to comprehension exercise was much more difficult. The short note was easy, nothing too difficult and even the one mark questions were pretty easy this time. I did mess up in the MCQ section as I was a bit nervous, and thanks to the complicated instructions, I would lose at least 4 marks as a result of it . On the whole English Precis was very easy this time.

EDS: The paper was easy, I could have aced it if I would have put in more effort, my performance was average because I am not very good at memorizing, nonetheless the paper went fine.

Current Affairs: The questions were very specific this time, I remember there was a question on India and Pakistan and you had to give specific measures to counter trust deficit. There were few general questions on corruption which require argumentation, luckily I was keeping up to date with news, and I read some good articles in the wall st journal and other reputable magazines, reading articles helped a lot to solve the current affairs paper.

Pakistan Affairs: To me Pakistan affairs was an extension of current affairs, there was a question on NRO and military takeovers, obviously someone who has been reading the newspaper would be able to answer with ease. The usual questions on Shahwaliullah, Aligarh/Deoband were there. If you study the syllabus properly then you shouldn't have any problem answering the question.

Islamiat: MCQs were a shocker this time, no one knew them or even heard of them before, the subjective part was all comparision to the global scenario, no questions on five pillars of Islam. I would advise reading the Islamic columns in dawn newspaper every friday as It will help you to tackle Islamiyiat paper.

Well my expectations are high and hopes are there for I have given 2010 attempt with profound throttle. I am expecting 670 plus marks. But one can not say anything in this exam, its unpredictable. So wait and see. What were your subjects in 2010 attempt?

Well I have attempted the topic of "Can women be equal to men" in essay. Composition paper went good for I have done immense practice of Precise and expansion of an idea.

Nopes I am not appearing in CSS 2011 because of age policy. Full throttle means do and die situation.

On which topic did you attempt your essay?

Did you ever study Jehangir World Times magazine?

Question

i attempted "can women be equal to men in pakistan?"
and i would love to share my xperience of essay exam, on the exam day, when i came across the essay paper, i decided to attempt this topic, so it took me one hour to write the outline only. and 2 hours in attempting the whole essay, i was very excited to attempt the essay nicely and efficiently, but in the interval between the 2 papers when i thought deeply that what i have written, at that time i had so many confusions abt whether the examiner would like my essay or not, whether i have written relevant to the topic or not, infact same are my feelings till today. now its the result only that will clarify my confusions.

no i havent ever studied it deeply i ve just skimmed it and not truly scanned, i didnt read it extensively.
