Guys when you say it was a technical essay, what do you actually mean apart from facts and figures? Though I didn't compete in 2011 but if I had, I would have attempted the same essay and for me, it would have been a general essay. My outline would have been;

Aspects of disaster management:
How, Why, What it actually means

Government Preparedeness:
Honi chahiye, Kesay honi chahiye, Kyun nahin hoti, Agar na ho to kia hota hai

And finally suggestions to effective preparedness and the goods attatched to this level of preparedness

Can anyone of you share his/hers please? Chahey rough si hi kar dain, jesay ke main ne ki hai

here is my outline

CSS Forums - View Single Post - Essay paper 2011


and by technical essay we mean that it was not a topic where you had to prove a point. like if you consider the essay on women . there you had to show whether she is considered a devil or an angel. similarly if you take the topic. in this country reason does not apply to anything. you had to show what kind of nonsense behavior is the hallmark of pakistani society..

but for disaster management .. you had to write about the facts and figures , make some diagrams ( which i did make . like about the disaster cycle) and then finally formulate a policy..

That was the main trick ...there is one very good friend of mine named umar abbas , he told me this point. that when you start writing the essay first of all write about the importance of the topic. how important this topic is ? this will do two things for sure ....it will make you stand out from the rest since most of the people do not give much importance to this aspect and secondly the examiner will also know that this topic was worth an attempt in this paper so no matter what topic is it ..give the importance of the topic at the start..

It's not that type of forecasting which magicians do but it's a skill just as analysis, taught in Management sciences.

well i had also attempted this disasterous essay..ironically i had anticipited that due to floods, crisis management or disaster management wouldbe asked, i even prepared thefacts and figures, but i could not produce well in the paper..because: it got on my nerves, got prob with outlines,cutting was superflous..and now i believe my starting was not good..it was just as i was writing an article...so i got 25 and failed...

hmm it was my 3rd attempt..already failed twice in Essay ... in earlier attempts..However i had very good outlines prepared for other 3 topics..being an engineer i deliberately chose it...i made a new out line of my own...for disaster mgmt ...it was my final attempt..was feeling apprehensive .. though went fr it..Indeed got thru...Thanks to Almighty ....

I cleared the 2011...
