i opted united nations in my essay paper.
all optionals were satisfactory .
journalism n comprehension were a bit tricky n tough but let us

as regard psychology it was too pin pointing means very unexpected topics n particular as regard the topic .
i hope may Allah be kind to me i did what i could at my par best

But comparing my prep and the type of papers I got confronted with, I can personally conclude this formula about CSS success:

60% Luck,
20% Hardwork,
20% Attempt, relevancy and expression on the day of paper

The papers of Current Affairs, Geography, Business Ad and Forestry were the major ones who compelled me to came up with this mindset regarding CSS. From what I have learned from this attempt, and would like to convey to others is that CSS is not that tough as many people assume.

I have got 10+ family members in Civil and Military bureaucracy and to be specific, 3 CSPs out of them. They simply have a good expression over English, fair knowledge over Current Affairs, possess sound analytical ability, were blessed with good luck and above all, they never lost hope. They are not Einstein or alike.

All one needs is to focus, polish his expression, minimize spelling and grammar mistakes, and stay relevant while answering the question asked. As for time of prep, it varies from person to person. But personally, I believe that I should have studied for 4 to 5 months, 4 to 5 hours a day. But my responsibility as a Middle Manager at a job came as the biggest odd as working 9 to 8 on an average leaves you with a little cushion to study that much, and that too even once you have your own family. But still, FPSC is least pushed by these factors. For them, an attempt is an attempt. And so it should be. After all, they are conducting an exam of 12000+ people so they cant take these issues into account.

I am going for 2013 attempt as it would be my 2nd but last one [as I would exceed 28 yrs barrier after that ] with a change of electives. I am happy that like always done, I DID NOT QUIT despite all these odds . I dont know what will come out as a result. Only time would tell that. I tried my best in this limited time and I have left the rest on Allah Almighty. Whatever He will decide will be best for me.

Lets hope for the best with the result of CSS 2012 and best of luck to everyone .
Sir dont you think ur giving extra credit to luck rather than hardwork which is a prerequisite to every success

Bhai jaan first of all, I have a lot of examples in my family. Then in my social circle, almost 10 various people known to me have been taking exams every year. Out of them, those who have cleared and those who have failed have compelled me to give this much weightage to luck . Can you beat it that a Gold Medalist of PU in English Literature failed in English ?

No doubt hardwork counts but luck heavily dominates in this game my friend.

Exclamation can't say it was amazing but in reality it was!

Not good experience...
compulsory papers were quiet easy but putting quality and managing standard in the nick of the was really a big task... My papers didn't go good because in each answer I was thinking how to make it short ...

I faced mistakes in different papers ... i.e., precise bi achi nahi hoi title bi acha nahi tha mera , by mistake I opted lengthy topic of essay...

Optional papers...

these papers were technically easy but logically little bit difficult, fpsc has changed the trend of many optional subjects paper lets see what is going to happen...

My experience was nice. One thing i realized that one needs brilliant writing skills both in physical and literary meanings. If one can not produce what he has got in his mind either due to lack of vocabulary, sentence structure or muscle fatigue than he is surely out of the competition.
My sincere suggestion to all aspirants will be to have as much writing practice as u can.

There's an old saying "The harder I try, the luckier I get". Sooner we, Pakistani, realise this, sooner we will become the leading nation.

Css Exams of 2012 for me was an emotional roller coaster.
I have realized its a matter of guts, physical stamina and cool mindedness.
The compulsory papers I think were mix , but frankly I think the MCQs they were a deal breaker. EDS and Islamiyat put me at ease.
The optionals were also quite a surprising mix.US history was a shocker (a surprising googly) geo 1 and 2 were also quite unexpected.Sociology and Psychology on the other hand was a good way to finish exam.
For aspirants more than being a genius and a bookworm, I think exam brings out strong Mettle in a person.

Default My CSS and PMS experience

It was a nice experience giving the papers of css for the first time....my optional subjects were Punjabi,Psychology,Muslim Law and Jurisprudence,Journalism and International Relations.....i have also appeared in the exams of PMS and i felt that the papers Compulsory Subjects of PMS were bookish but the pattern of CSS is entirely different than that of PMS...According to my experience, CSS is more easy than PMS as the GK paper of PMS was too tough to solve!!! Waiting for the result of CSS and PMS both...so just need the prayers of my well wishers ,mentors, pals and peers!!!
