Medical Confusion !!!
AOA everyone.....i hope everyone is doing gr8 these days....this is perhaps the very first post im making in any web-community,so any sort of interest would be highly appreciated by this "trainee"...
So now coming to the problem....i wont take much time nd get straight to the bulls-eye.....i have been declared medically unfit by the armed forces for some mysterious reason that they "thought" it "might" be a problem in the "future" (or atleast that what they said)...i was selected as a GD(P),my schooling was done in one of the two prestegious Air Force colleges and alhamdolillah i was among the top sportsmen of my era and was nick named "physically-damn-fit" by our base commander... now the point is that i have decided to join or beloved country's Supreme intelligence agency (as a civilian, ocourse) and i beleive that inshallah i would make it through the tests....now if someone can please share with me their information regarding my medical situation, the policy regarding such situation...it would be an act of gratitude...hope to see some positive progress soon inshallah. Medical Query
Aslam o Alaikum,
Brother you have not mentioned your disease or disability due to which you have left the armed forces... Anyways, presuming that you wanna join I.B so I don't think they will be having any such reservation unless your discharge certificate (that you must have got while leaving air force) mentions it point blank that you are unfit. In that case, you will be examined by the medical board and they will consider your case in the light of their requirement of physical fitness.... Wish you Best of Luck!!!

Dear Forty seven,
The margin of error in terms of GD(P) remains obvious, that one needs to be robust and physically fit to the highest standards. Medical test of the GD(P) is one of the toughest task which is often not met due to the standards they have maintained. There are also many cases where a person unfit for GD(P), applying to other forces or even non GD(P) courses amply gets the desired post. So if you were declared unfit, does not mean that you cant apply to other forces on those very medical grounds. You did not mention the grounds raised by the Medical staff, as it could be consulted and sorted out with the medical practioner. But i still believe you have an ample oppurtunity and equally fit to join any other cadre you wish to join. The medical test of GD(P) is an exceptional case. Good Luck.

@ Forty Seven
The Air force General Duties Pilot CMB Karachi demands people who are super men. The slightest variation in any part of your body does render you unfit. The case of IB medical is very lenient. So dont worry, u will breeze through. Did you go to the Appeal Medical Board Rawalpindi.

1st of all thnx to all u guys for such quick response....
2ndly,the circumstances took a turn...when i was declared unfit by the CMB (or AFIC to be precise),we were bound (by the air force) to either request an appeal medical board or either opt for army....i opted for army, and strangely enoungh i didnt go throug a CMB for the army but rather i was called for an appeal medical board...having spent time in the forces i knew very well that i was supposed to go through a normal CMB as that was the rule for all who were declared unfit for air force, but still i couldnt do anythng in that "war of the generals" (later on i came to know that in those days there was some tussle b/w GHQ nd Air headquarters regarding the change-of-arms for cases like me, so it was like "politics" nd i prefered nt to go in those details) anyway long story short, i went for appeal medical board, nd as expected i was again declared unfit even for army...a senior officer who conducted my tests was about to declare me fit as all the results were clear (alhamdolillah) but he couldnt counter-sign his superior's decision..... now that i know i can never join the armed forces, i would like to know what chances do i have to join ISI (or IB) as an intelligence officer? im sure they still fall under the "civilian" infrastucture (atleast under the consitution and although dominated by the armed forces) so being a civilian what would be my medical status when inshallah i clear the tests etc? Im sure you guys would have a definite answer for the long story that i narrated....hope to hear from you soon... Allah Hafiz nd thnx again |

Dear Forty seven,
Your's is a genuine case though the circumstances you have undergone, were unfortunate. Had you preferred first the army than it might have a different story and you might not have gone through the saga you have narrated. Any how still i believe that you will sail smoothly and safely if you undergo through the medical test, if it is held by the ISI or IB. Keep your spirits high and you know the civilian cader dont see the minute of the things as required in Armed forces, when taken the medical test into account. Regards.
