For accounting to be kept as an optional subject; one must have a very sound background in accounting...most of the people who opt accounting have very basic knowledge but the 30 marks question, objectives and all theoratical questions demand very sound knowledge and this is the reason that candidates have been scoring low in accounting...moreover examiners have also set the marking strict to bring it at par with other theoratical subjects like history and geography....to get score in accounting one must have sound accounting background otherwise it is advisable not to opt accounting

For those who are giving advise to work hard or consider that CSS accounting standard is high have no clue what they are talking about. Difficulty level in this paper is not even of b.com standards. It is a simple paper and those having a sound background can pass it without much preparation. The reason FPSC decided to award low marks in 2010 is a mystery but so is the case in few other subjects. The exact reason is known to the person who checked the papers. So please stop complaining about it and prepare for next time hoping that the same thing will not be repeated again.

Mr. amir is very true . The result of accounting in 2010 really shocked me. Accounting in CSS is really very easy. I got 140 marks in 2009 and i wasn't satisfied as i knew that i can improve these marks with a little effort. I guy sitting in front of me got 183 marks. people with accounting background can easily score more than 150.

Accounting is amongst those 'objective' type papers like Mathematics and Statistics where one can easily close 90%+ marks. The fact that most of you complained that you did everything correct and still were expecting 130 or 140 marks speaks volumes of your 'preparedness' and confidence. If you were confident that you done everything correct, you would have been expecting 180 or 190 marks and not 130 or 140.

I attempted all papers of the last 5 years and got them checked and scored 180+ in all of them. All this with minimal preparation. After going though the course and solving past papers, I can't believe why FPSC would chose such an easy syllabus/course. Honestly speaking, if a mediocre BBA student can not achieve 150+ marks in this subject then he wasted 4 years of his life and probably should opt another field/subject
Dear,
I have mentioned 130+ as my expected marks, because i have deliberately excluded the theory portion. Because in theory one can not make exact guess. Nevertheless, in CE 2010 Accounting and Auditing has remained a low scoring subject. And, i have not seen a single candidate who has scored even 100 marks. Guess all candidates didn't prepared well

I just received my DMC for CSS 2010. I have got 108 in accounting (49 in paper 1 and 59 in paper 2). Even though it's the highest I ve heard so far for CE 2010, I am not satisfied as i was expecting 150+. I have remined an accounting student for the last 10 years, having topped Pakistan in O' levels accounting and again topped the region in A'levels accounting. Later I studied it till my MBA. The score for paper 2 is still acceptable but my paper 1 had went around 95%. Had i got something like 160, my merit number might have been 124 instead of 324!
Anyhow, my hopes from accounting still remain high and I would be opting for it in 2012 exam.

Dear Omer-First of all congrats for passing the CE-2010.When majority of the candidates were bw 60s and 80s,it is great to see 108 marks, the highest, obtained by you in accounting in 2010. I too got only 80 marks despite having accounting background. But it is a policy of the commission which militates against the spirit of competition.

Nevertheless congrats.
