I am very confused as to which subject I should go with. Sometimes, I feel like opting CS would be a wise move since it's my subject. But, when I try to consider IR then it feels like it helps me in knowing and understanding the Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs better because 2017 papers were IR centric.

I have planned to appear in CE-2019 but I am having problem making a selection between CS and IR. What do you suggest me? And if you replace CS with IR then on what basis you would make that decision? Please respond.

P.S. Did you see the CS paper of 2017 and don't you think it's tougher than 2016's?

Neptune Shadow has been teaching for years and probably a gold medalist. We, unlike him, can not fetch that much marks. So, opting CS may not benefit us that much as IR can. But again I am confused that what we are supposed to do of the selection b/w CS and IR.

For all Computer Scientist who are confused can contact my mentor Asifr (member CSS forum) at the given link. He'd a brilliant score in Computer Science. Moreover, he's a teaching faculty at Public Service Academy, Lahore (Academy Contact # 0333-3417774). You will feel confident after one meeting. Cheers!

glad that someone asked this question, In this era of technological advancement, there's not a single post related to information technology (informations group seems more related to mass communications than cs) and I think that's the reason fpsc consider very few cs graduates eligible for the position of csp...

It does not directly answer the question. But same is said for the ones having opted Physics. Maleeha Iesar, the topper of CE-2016, had opted Physics. By analogy, she should not have secured good marks owing to the argument that technical / science subjects like these take too much of time.

Plus, this time, there are a good number of candidates who had opted CS as their optional and still got through. I got this information from a DD in FPSC.

My own score of CS in CE-2016 was as follows: Paper l : 69, Paper ll : 74. I failed in Essay. CS is a piece of cake for anyone having a solid background in CS.

1 - Would you like to tell that how much time it took to prepare for both papers?
2 - What is your qualification, BS or MPhil?
