Thats a very subjective question. You should decide that for yourself keeping your strengths, weaknesses and constrains in view.

I fell in love with this subject and applied for MA IR after taking the exams but the result broke my heart.
Scored 66 in current affairs and 83 in Gender studies

Please can you share your strategy for current affairs and gender studies?

All those who have opted I.R last year or considering it as an optional for C.E 2018. I must say that, to score good marks in paper 2 is quite easy but for paper 1 in depth study is needed; Hence it is based on basic concepts of I.R.

I have seen some people saying that they have done Masters in I.R and still did'nt scored well; so placing my own example I am a Gold medalist in I.R and you know what I just got 25 marks in paper 1 and 45 in paper 2.

May be the reason is (for me atleast) that we have considered this subject comparitively easier, but this is'nt a piece of cake. I am not denying the fact that most of the aspirants must have served a lot of energies and time for the preparations. But, irrelativity of the answers, seems to be the biggest issue in this regard.

I think it is worth discussing why people had low scores in paper 1. The syllabus seems straightforward. However, the paper does not. I saw that 3 of the questions directly asked for a critical analysis(I emphasize this because the syllabus for paper 1 mostly contains theories or stuff that you might be tempted to cram and reproduce).

Could it be that people did not know what a critical analysis was and simply wrote whatever their knowledge on the subject was?
