read alot of books just for European History
The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers (Economic Change and Military Conflict from 1500 to 2000) by Paul Kennedy is also very helpful in European Histroy preparation.

I think H.L Peacock's book is good but I.J Chawla's book is also worth reading because its written in a very brief and interesting manner and could be very fruitful pertaining to the CSS paper pattern.
