Default Practice In High Court ..

Assalam o Alaikum ..

I have a question regarding legal practice after Bar At Law .. Are Barristers eligible to go to high courts directly, after their Bar At Law .. ? Or do they need some experience before that .. ?
Also please let me know what is the procedure for LLB Lawyers, if they want to practice in High Court .. Is it based on experience or any lawyer can go to practice in High Court .. ?

Regards ..

venomencer is on a distinguished road
Default High court

If you are Bar at Law from Lincolns Inn, u are competent to appear before high court.
Well, after doing ur LLB, u will have to submit ur first intimation form (showing the date on which u started ur apprenticeship), a written examination followed by an interview would be held under the supervision of concerned Bar Council. Now u have got enough experience to practise as a lawyer and appear before district courts. You still cant appear before High court. After two years another exam would be held where you would provide a list of 20 cases, in which you had been engaged as a counsel (during ur district court license period). tadah.........and here is ur High court license.

And remeber............for a Supreme Court's licnse u will have to practise another ten years (after u have acquired ur High Court's license) in order to being eligible for ur license exam.

I have used wordings "have to" bcoz all of what i have said are pre-requisites for ur license examination, there is no other way.
Hope u got my point

Simple LLb must have two years of experience of lower courts then they are eligible to appear before HC. However i am not certain about Barristers whether they can appaer in HC. I have a barrister my friend but he is LLM as well he appears in HC regularly.. After LLM one is eligible to appear before HC without undergoing the ordeal of appearing in Lower courts.

6 months apprenticeship with a HC advocate is necessary for a simple llb, he will give you apprenticeship certificate. But you can get it without joining if you have relations with any senior advocate.

Procedure: Register yourself in Provincial Bar, then register in any District Bar in which you wish to practice.

Provincial Bar conducts exams for granting License twice a year fill the form furnish all the documents including 6 months apprenticeship certificate, pay the Fee approximately 15000, appear in the written then in the interview. within a few days you will have your license of Provincial bar then register in a district bar immediately because countdown of 2 years starts from the time you registered at District Bar. do not forget the last thing because students often do not register at District bar and then after a year in lower courts they regret the loss of time.

After registering You can practice independently in Lower courts if you wish so. However you have an option to stay back and exhaust your 2 years to get HC license.
