It has three sections, Human,Commercial and Regional Geography. What my analyses has been from the previous papers is that geo 2 is periodical.. means in odd numbered years(2009,2011,2013..) its major portion consists of "human geography"-be it world level or regional level-. Where as even numbered years' paper consist major portion of commercial geography... So if the pattern remains the same this time you'll have more portion of Commercial Geography so I would suggest preparing it very well and with up to date knowledge. Topics: 1.Commercial Activities(Primary,Secondary,Tertiary..)) 2.Agricultural Crops(Wheat,Rice,Sugarcane,Cotton....) 3.Industries & manufacturing(Textile Industry, Steel Mills...) 4.Natural Resources(Coal,Petroleum,Gas,Water..) these are a must to do topics... but do add human portion because in case you don't face the question you prepared it would prove helpful 5.Possibilism & Determinism 6.Urbanization 7.Migration 8.Agriculture(General question with its types--not the commercial one) Suggested Books: De Blij's Human Geography + F.K Khan's Commercial Geography by Oxford Press. You also have the option of getting prepared questions from the books of Sarfaraz Bajwa's and Mian Muhammad Anwars's Human Geography P.S. This is strictly my own observation, so anyone may contradict but this is what I observed and found in my first attempt(2013) too. Regards Stay Blessed

1.Landforms: do crammed landfroms as 1 question will be of this topic(river, glacier, wind, karst landforms, mass wasting, weathering) 2.Oceans: ocean currents(complete), ocean relief, salinity 3.Rocks(Complete) 4.Internal Structure of Earth(with all related topics:Volcanism+Earthquakes) 5.Climate: Do crammed any 4 climates at least I guess with these topics covered you won't get stuck anywhere in geo 1 InshaALLAH Quote:

Go for Sarafaraz Bajwa's Human Geography or Mian Muhammad Anwar's Human Geography
But do remember only on one book won't do for you as pattern now demands thorough knowledge of the subject.. Regards Stay Blessed

whatever incounternable said is totally right First of all, Geography 1 is not about cramming. Its about intelligent work and you will have loads of choice there will always be this one question that will be repeated from the last year (this remained true for my 2010, 2012 and 2013 attempts). So solving the last paper (Paper 1) does you good and gives you 1 question. Let me tell you my strategies. 2010 paper: I studied only Jahangir Exam Cram and: -I skipped Climates -I skipped Tectonic Plates -I skipped Maps -I skipped Air Fronts etc Even in the remaining topics I was not 100% prepared. So there was this question about Mass Wasting (and I thought this is erosion and I wrote all the stuff about erosion and thus a straight zero). I was able to secure 101 marks (or 103 I am not so sure) In 2012 paper: I studied only from Farooq Bajwa Book: -I skipped Climates -I Skipped Tectonic Plates -I skipped Maps -I skipped Air Fronts etc. I was able to solve the whole paper (although I did not know what a rock cycle should be but since I know the differences between the rocks I was able to draw a correct cycle) and I got 121. so it is about selective preparation but that too in depth. You can afford to leave topics for choice but you cannot be selective in the rest of the portion. For example: If you are attempting Landforms, then you have to go through all the landforms. For example: Landforms by winds, water, ice, ocean etc Hope it helps. To be honest, there is no short cut for general knowledge. one develops it only through reading. If you are an avid reader, you will have no issue. and please do develop this habit (its fun and you will enjoy it). For example in 2012 we had this question of Industrial Revolution. I did not know a bit about it (I did not prepare it) but I was able to recall from the general knowledge. As a short cut go through Jahangir World Times for the previous few years (if you can get hold of it) and try to be updated about the major revolutions of the World: For example: Scientific Revolution, Green Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Negro Trade in the 17th and 18th centuries, American Revolution, IT Revolution etc.

Like any other subject, for MCQs preparation, one needs to study thoroughly the whole subject. The short cuts would be to solve the last 10 years paper's MCQs thoroughly and by thoroughly I mean:
(1) Quartz is a: (a) metamorphic rock (b) igneous rock (c) sedimentary rock (d) none of the above or (1) Which of the following is a metamorphic rock (a) Marble (b) Shale (c) Quartz (d) Sandstone So solve all the options. Don't just look for the right answer. for example: to make short notes, search what is marble, shale, quartz, sandstone. So 1 MCQ will prepare you for 4 more MCQs because if you had solved the 2nd MCQ thoroughly (and not just look for the correct answer) you would have been able to answer the 1st one easily P.S This was for illustration purposes only
