It is a general formula that applies to all subjects i.e Opt for.the subject if you have interest in it and you can handle it well.Short syllabus,history of good scores or scoring/non scoring are merely additional points.Therefore,if you are really good at Punjabi you should not hesitate.

Yea,I have finalized my subjects;

IR
US History
English Literature
Philosophy
Punjabi

Oh No..I think 99.9 percent aspirants are opting I.R...Political Science is also a good subject people...It will help in Governance and Public policy...One for one free...Economics Accounting must also be known. It will help a lot in general in your future life...No body will ask you about I.R in purgatory...But yes...Aakhrat men Hisab kitab to ho ga...Accounting and Auditing???

Some body listening? I.R will give tough time if you keep in mind every factor effecting marks.

Default Over-all Punjabi is a good subject but

There are number of plus points of opting Punjabi, one must keep them in mind while deciding optionals.
i. One can score 20/20 in objective part, in other subjects, getting 20/20 in MCQs is really tough
ii. Using Punjabi Idioms and Phrases can really boast results in this subject, but this is dependent on practice
iii. Proper diction is very necessary in this subject as well, it is also a marks gaining strategy, for this purpose one can read, "Punjabi Lisaniyat" by Dr. Shahbaz Malik
iv. Proper time allocation is really necessary, number of students allocate months for the preparation of Essay and other such subject, but they allocate 7 to 10 days for Punjabi resulting in poor preparation. So, one must avoid this aspect as well.
v. The most important, references and Examples. Try to add 10 to 12 references and examples in your assignment, and get it checked by some senior or teacher. In this ways, you will be preparing notes as well as getting an expert opinion about your effort

So I think, if these guidelines are properly followed than getting 85+ marks in Punjabi is not difficult

P.S. For Punjabis, tough competition also require, a subject with high marks scoring trend. This is also an important prespective for Punjabis
