It is a comprehensive outline. I am glad to see you also used the example where mother killed her child while playing Farmville. It was a shocking news for me when I first heard it, probably that's why i remembered it.

Comrades and seniors,

I want to share what how I performed today in the essay writing paper, the toughest of all. Though none of the options were expected, topics were so generic and open to many interpretations. All the topics given in the exam didn't confine us to write only in the domestic, or international perspective, but demanded a blend of both of them to form a comprehensive essay. Anyway, when I finished the test, I realized that I could have written the same material even if I wouldn't have studied.

The topic I had chosen was "Economy is not, but politics is the key to success"
It was an argumentative essay. Though I was not prepared to write in this form but tried my best. I am here so, sharing my outline and quick facts of the essay. Please do comment on how many marks would I be able to get. I am worried

Outline:
01. Introduction - Interdependence of Economy and Politics
2. Historical Perspective:

a) Great Britain
(Discussed the success stories of the British Empire, and its political stance aimed to develop a stronger economic power in the world)
b) United States of America
(Discussed New Deal, a domestic program of F.D. Roosevelt to deal with the great depression and to bring back the lost prosperity)
c) Third World Countries:
(Discuss the 'Vague' politics, poor political will and set up, role of feudal lords and the ground realities of slogans like 'Roti, Kapra and Makan' and programs like 'Metro Buses')
03. People's Rule and Politics
(Discuss democracy as an important factor to win the hearts of people, to realize the liability to serve the nation, subsequently enhances the economic conditions)
04. Empowerment of the Ordinary Man:
(Discussed as part of politically formed policies: the social, political and economical empowerment to achieve wide economic goals)
05. Supremacy of Law:
(Highlighted that Pakistan Constitution 1973, Article 25 promises the people to have equal value in the eyes of laws. Success is determined by prosperity as one of its factors, prosperity deals greatly with the presence of equal and just laws)
06. Military Involvement in Politics:
(Discuss the prosperity being terribly disturbed by the twenty-nine years rule of the despotic dictators. Article 6 of Pakistan Constitution 1973 must be invoked to deal with the problem for future)
07. Domestic Programs and Politics:
(Discussed the role of democracy, people's power to elect their own representatives and the fear factor to be thrown out of the office by these voters which makes the politicians to develop certain domestic programs which not only serve the nation but also make them proud on their elected politicians)
8. International Relations and Business:
(Discussed how our politicians can form and influence their international alliances by taking advantage of the strategic position and natural resources. Such policies will in-turn bring international financial interest towards our country in our own terms)
09. Education on Equal Grounds:
(Discussed the need to teach our children on an equal ground, elimination the language and environment based difference which create social disparity later on. Also discuss if the state doesn't do this, the gap between the desired and actual standard of education will be filled by the private educational institutions which teach the students in the western lines: not good for the future of Pakistan. Such decisions can only be made if our politicians really wish to do so)
10. National Branding:
(Discussed the importance of marketing the state at the global level like India, China and famous most Malaysia 'Truly Asia' package. This will not only improve the image of the country but will also bring in good money through tourism and global conglomerates)
11. Elimination of Feudalism:
(Discussed it as the core hindrance in the development of the desired political set up and an educated, free, dignified nation)
12. Political Agenda and Campaigns:
(To win votes, politicians promise many things to do in both domestic and international affairs. These promises at times turn into the reality, only if the politicians are loyal, sincere and responsible, which in-turn improve the economic conditions, by increased employment, business and academic equal opportunities, international trade and etc)
13. Elimination of Poverty:
(Discussed the need to have a strong political will to reduce and ultimately eliminate poverty. This will make them work. More work has to be generated for them, only it would be possible if the policy makers seriously think over it)
14. Role of Media as the Fourth Pillar of a State:
(Discussed the role of 'free media', which also plays an important role in representing the country across oceans)
15. End of 'Sorry-State' Existence:
(If the political power of the country will be strong enough, there will be no reason to be in a 'Sorry-State' anymore. The nation will live in a dignity, recognized and appraised by the whole world)
16. End of Terrorism:
(NO DOUBT! To deal with chaos, civil war and most importantly terrorism, a strong political action has to be made. Nations have won many wars on the dialogue table, why can't we?)
17. Conclusion:
(Finally concluded that if the political set up is sound, people are empowered to elect, political stance is strong, and only if the politicians are sincere with their country, a great economic condition, improved HDI, GINI Coefficient, International packs and most importantly the overall prosperity of the nation will no more a dream then. Hence, its true, politics is the key to success, not the economy)

I wrote the outline in the first two pages. Started the essay from the third page and ended at thirteenth. I wrote about 1700 words.

Introduction was on one page, while the conclusion was of a little more then half page. My writing was to the point. Nothing was repeated, no cuttings, and almost no spelling mistakes.

Now I am worried if I will pass or not. Because I didn't write the required quantity. I know it doesn't matter that much, however anything little is still enough for CSS. I planned to score around 60 or more in essay Now I am just praying to clear this exam, that will be enough

Also, I am not fully sure If I got the idea of the essay title or not. Please comment on the outline stated above and share your views. SHALL IT HELP ME?

Default My topic no. 2

I think i made a blunder. made it to be an argumentative essay and tried to keep it in the context of national policies and prevailing ills such as corruption, need for democratic stability, infrastructure policies and militancy.

I think I did not do justice to the topic. Need your comments. is this approach OK.

--- Also in hindsight i now strongly believe that i should have gone with topic no. 8---

My planned outline would have been:

Intro:

Intro to the UN charter and Article of the contitution
Agree with the topic (for)

Body

Religeous Aspect:
Blasphemy Law and recent case of Innocence of Muslims.

National Aspect:

Responsible reporting that does not harm the strategic interests, national secrets, morale of people, jeopardizing on going investigations and pending court judgements;

Personal:

Marital problems, social and other problems that may arise

Conclusion with some suggestion of UN resolution to ban caricatures and slanderous content effecting religeon and media to act in the national interest rather than commercial interest.

half way thrpough writing my essay the meaning of the gold maxim just hit me. by that time it was too late to go to it. It meant when the good are bad, what should we expect from the people considered bad. In other words, corruption is everywhere.

dude, this looks like my approach too... that is a relief... but again i focused mainly on the current issues. i thought this is what CSS examiners are usually looking for. but i cannot shake the feeling i should have gone for free speech. Allah Pak jaisa chahen. i think the time to think has passed. we should focus on the remaining exams.

Free speech should have limitations:

Introduction:
- The interconnected world of today.
- Free speech: definitions, recognition, scope.
- History of free speech: Greeks, Muslims, Renaissance, European liberalism

Advantages and Disadvantages of free speech:
- Growth of culture, science, happiness
- Fragmentation of society, misuse of free speech, spread of misinformation

Limitations on free speech
- Blasphemy laws, holocaust denial, restrictions on hate speech and racism, treasonous speech, laws against defamation,

Analysis:
- Free speech should be encouraged and the only restrictions on it should be very clearly defined so that no one is wrongfully accused.
- Measures that can be taken at the societal, state and international levels to ensure that free speech is protected while very clearly defined restrictions are enforced.
- Conclusion: rounding up of analysis, end.
