A meeting of federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani approved the text of national labour policy 2010 on Saturday.

The policy hikes minimum wages of the laborers from existing Rs 6000 per month to Rs 7000 in the country.

The new labour policy vows to curb bonded labor and said that the children below 18 years will not be allowed to work in an improper working environment.

The new labour policy also enhances dowry fund for the daughters of employees to Rs 75,000 from existing 25,000 limit.

The policy reduces the old age pension entitlement age from 55 years to 50 years.

The policy also promises that the number of women workers in an organization will be fixed in accordance with the charter of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Under the new policy salaries to the labourers will be paid through banks.

The cabinet meeting also decided to setup tripartite monitoring committees on federal, provincial and district level to oversee the implementation of the labour laws.

This policy will come into effect from June 1, 2010.

Immediately rejected by lahore chambers saying that it is not possible to increase 1000 rs per person.similar reaction is shown by others though not officially.

New labour policy announced and rejected.

another failure of government or inability to get labour an average wage?

7000 rs in this time has no value still it is not possible for institutions to pay it.do this policy relieves tensions or frustrations of labour class?

was it an attempt of government to make traders and businessmen weak?

it will be criticised by rich class and media too.poor may also criticize as it has nothing much to offer

what do you say about new labour policy?

what else could have been done that has not been done?
