I believe media and politicians of pakistan has not yet attained the required degree of maturity. No doubt if we see as a 'resolution' it is not justified at all instead electronic media has shown overall -ve image. Constitutions, rules and principles are always made to draw the boudries for the act to be done.
Politicians (law makers) are 'ILLITErate', they cant understand the meaning of education ,freedom of speech etc,as ill luck would have it we always found such people around us as the leaders.
It is time for the nation to redefine of 'LEADER' & 'LEADERSHIP'. Concluding the remarks " every thing must be driven under certain rules' no matter wether it is immature media or illiterate politicians of pakistan.

Phase-wise media crackdown plan flops

Monday, July 12, 2010
PML-N, PPP were on the same page
By Rauf Klasra

ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is said to have taken the handwritten draft of the resolution against the media from the Speaker’s chamber to his residence for “editing” on Thursday afternoon and returned it after making some required additions with clear instructions to hand over the final draft to MPA Sanaullah Mastikhel on Friday for approval by the Punjab Assembly.

It has now been revealed that the District Coordination Officers (DCOs) were used to make all MPAs of the Punjab Assembly reach Lahore to attend a “special session” of the assembly on Thursday. Even the name of MPA Sanullah Mastikhel, who is now being made the scapegoat by the top guns of the PML-N, was chosen by none other than CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to present the resolution in the provincial assembly.

Moreover, two foreign countries were also taken into confidence on the crackdown plan against the media. This inside story was revealed to The News by one of the top insiders of the PML-N, who was an integral part of the plot to target the media. According to him, even harsher measures against the media were in the offing but the move backfired.

After the passage of the resolution, the next plan was to stop official advertisements to the media and to issue all official advertisments only on the Internet in addition to asking the federal government to bring in more stringent laws to tighten the noose around the uncontrolled media through the PEMRA.

In this regard, it is said that the Speaker Punjab Assembly had made a secret telephone call to a top gun of the PPP having close friendship with President Asif Zardari to move similar motions against the media in the Senate, the National Assembly and three other provincial assemblies. The Speaker, according to informed sources, made this call in the presence of Law Minister Rana Sanullah, Deputy Speaker Mashood and some members of the provincial assembly.

The crackdown plan was kept top secret. However, some powerful circles in the media got wind of the strategy to cripple the media. In particular, heavy damage was to be inflcited on one media group.

According to credible information, the plot was finalised on Thursday in the Speaker’s chamber in the presence of 17 MPAs belonging to PPP, PML-N and PML-Q. Sanaullah Mastikhel, being the most experienced parliamentarian, was especially asked to participate in this meeting. Others included Dr Tahir Javed, Shaukat Bhatti, Ali Noor Niazi, Nawabzada Shams Haider, Miss Sameel Kamran, Zulfikar Gondal, Ch Abdul Waheed, Col Shujaa Khanzada, Mohsin Leghari, Ch Zaheeurdin and Rana Sanaullah.

At one point during the meeting, Sanullah Mastikhel appeared not willing to condemn the media for raising the issue of fake degrees since he had been fighting a long legal battle against his political opponents in Bhakkar, MNA Rashid Akbar and others, on the same issue and the case was still pending in the Supreme Court.

As these MPAs were busy giving final touches to the draft resolution, the Speaker was informed that Shahabz Sharif had reached his assembly chamber and had summoned all of them for a word. The CM stopped them from tabling the resolution on Thursday, saying he wanted to make a speech on the water issue so the resolution should be tabled on Friday.

However, he took the handwritten draft to his residence where he made the necessary changes after consulting his close aides and then handed it over to Col Shujaa Khanzada, who subsequently handed it over to Sanaullah Mastikhel to be tabled in the assembly.

The Speaker suspended the rules of business on Friday to allow Sanaullah Mastikhel to table the resolution. In the meanwhile, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif also reached the assembly and witnessed the whole drama enacted in the Punjab Assembly.

This correspondent made a call to Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel to get his point of view but he refused to offer any comment. But a top PML-N leader claimed that the party had already made its position clear that it was not its policy and that action would be taken against the mover of the resolution.

here is another one to read and interesting very interesting and makes me say again "Funny the way it is"

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Rauf Klasra revealed a sensational story today in Jang on how the resolution against media was drafted by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and how Klasra got hold of this information from his inside sources in PMLN.

We are not getting into the debate of whether the resolution passed against the media by elected representatives of all political parties under the influence of emotional speeches by a couple of MPAs was justified or not, neither are we discussing the content of resolution, in which we are still trying to find any restrictions or black laws imposed against media.

What we want is to highlight is how a minority of opportunists and proven corrupt black sheep like Rauf Klasra exploit the situation during heightened political temperature to fulfill their own agendas for the sake of hiding their own corruption or to get rewards from opponents of politicians in trouble.

Klasra is very close to top PPP officials, including Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani who calls Klasra a close friend and Law Minister Dr. Babar Awan, who occasionally feeds him with material that he could use for blackmail and/or rewards.

Every single column or article that Klasra writes is either based on personal grievance against someone or motivated against favor by opponent of victim, like from Babar Awan against Abid Sher Ali as highlighted later in this article.

Although all of Klasra’s articles are more or less the same, we will try to highlight a few of them that were published in the past few weeks.

Example 1 – PAC versus Plot Scammers:

On 11th June 2010, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) showed concerns over plot allotments and started investigation against Port Qasim Authority, followed by plots alloted to journalists, politicians and generals.

In response to the initiation of investigation by PAC on plots issue, where Klasra is proven to be one of the biggest scammer and corrupt journalist, Rauf Klasra wrote a sensational column on 15 June 2010 against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the chairman of PAC for not working on NLC scam and accused him of hiding the report. The very next day, The News published a strong clarification from Chaudhry Nisar about baseless story by Klasra and even PAC members confirmed that malafide report.

Example 2 – Rauf Klasra versus Hassan Nisar

Columnist Hassan Nisar wrote a column addressed to PAC and appreciated their role in investigation of plot and housing scams involving generals, judges, politicians, bureaucrats and journalists.

Even though Klasra’s name was not discussed in Hassan Nisar’s column, Klasra reacted rigorously to Hassan Nisar’s column and questioned the intentions of PAC. Although Klasra’s name was not mentioned in the PAC meeting, but it seemed that he believe that whenever there is any inquiry regarding the plots, he would definitely get exposed.

In response to Klasra’s column Hassan Nisar and PAC, Hassan Nisar responded and said that it is very important that integrity and character of preachers and teachers should be spotless.

Example 3 -Babar Awan versus Abid Sher Ali

On 22nd June, Babar Awan threatened PMLN’s Abid Sher Ali, who chairs the parliamentary committee for education, to pull back from the verification of degrees of politicians and bureaucrats or face consequences.
The consequences were unleashed just 4 days later on 26th June, when Rauf Klasra published another sensational story against the father of Abid Sher Ali, which hilariously confuses readers whether Klasra is trying to prove his father innocent and a victim of General Musharraf like PM Yousuf Raza Gilani, or whether he is trying to prove his father as corrupt but never convicted unlike Gilani.

Similarly, today’s story against CM Punjab published in Jang by Klasra is linked to another article published in same newspaper on same date, which hilariously reveals the real finger behind the Klasra’s story. The other article reveals that Presidency (Zardari) and his associates (Babar Awan) are actively working on fueling the Punjab Assembly vs Media issue, and the recent link between Klasra and Babar Awan was proven on the degree verification issue against Abid Sher Ali. One of the main thing that highlights the malafied intent by Klasra is that he has held his guns against PMLN, whereas the resolution was passed unanimously by all parties in the Punjab Assembly, including PMLN, PPP and PMLQ.

As we expose these black sheep, we also salute the sane voice from media like Kashif Abbasi, who bravely stood against the tide and talked about tolerance, balance, sanity and self accountability of media and got the most positive feedback from our viewers in past 2 days in News Beat and Off the Record.
