See this is where you are wrong, i do not understand how urdu runs in the blood of a person whose mother tongue is saraiki, pashtoo or balochi or any other language other than urdu. The reality is urdu is just a name and symbol of our nation which basically signify nothing. I mean look at it, even our government institutions do not use urdu in the offices, most of the work is done in english. And i also do not agree with you saying it is the most beautiful language in the world. Come on! its arabic. The language of GOD Almighty and our Beloved Prophet.

I admit u r right in preferring Arabic but we need to think that urdu is our national language. Albeit arabic is of utmost value but we can't compare it to urdu. Both have their own status.

I think primary education must be in mother tongue. For this purpose basic knowledge of science should be translated in it.Urdu has become our national languge and we have all the literature and history scripted in it.So replacing it by some other languge will need a lot of homework. And i think majority of our population understands it.It has become a uniting bond for us so we must continue with it.But as far as english is concerned it has become a languge of science and technology and no other languge is going to replace it.We have our keyboards of PCs in english script and we can not replace it easily and be adept in it.Even people arguing in favour of urdu are using english lnguage to assert its importance. And we we translate science and technology terms into english these are very difficult to comprehend.I have personally encountered it.And one more thing that is 'lanaguge belongs to no one specific nation or person ,it belongs to the person who knows it'.So we can,t term english as colonial legacy.Even the Quaid used to speak english more fluently than urdu.

no no no dears...no Urdu please now!! see you have 2 options: a) TRANSLATE science into Urdu; b) learn english. If you choose option a you effectively make the student DEPNDENT on urdu translations (which come with their own urdu translation errors!) So in a country which is independent like Pakistan, it is better to learn English.

Moreover, difference is clear in front of your eyes. Those who read Urdu newspapers like JANG (which translate to WAR in english...but we leave that part for now ) they feed on crap...their thinking remains totally non creative, narrow and DEPENDENT on the crap that they are fed from JANG peepal. On the other hand, those who read DAWN, the newspaper of the Quaid himself! They have bright new ideas, they are innovative and Actually understand the politics of the country and this world

So friends English should be taught even from class montesorri... Urdu, well those who want to spend time in Urdu may take urdu depending on their choice... comments??

elementofsurprise:

Janab we already agreed that urdu should not be the medium of education and conversation but it should be with us and we should be aware of its know how. English is significant for us for the sake of following the order of the day but urdu is also important for us, at least at national level. Thats all!

Regards
