What Could be the Motives Behind the Killings of Polio workers ?
It is very sad to see that members of Polio eradication teams were the victims of terrorism this time in Karachi and Peshawar. What could be the motives behind this senseless and brutal acts of terrorists ?

They just want Pakistan to be declared as Failed state. Enemies of Pakistan can go to any extent. And Media is playing Havoc by creating confusion on action against these so called Tali bans.

Well, the objectives of these attacks are multiple and manifold. The terrorists want to take the vengeance of their killed companions in Peshawar recently with the backing of their foreign masters. They also want to horrify people not to cooperate with the government-run machinery so that they may impose forcefully their distorted shape of Islam.

I don't think that terrorists are so well organized to launch a systematic operation against Polio workers throughout Pakistan with excellent precision and planning. Attacks on the polio workers in Sindh, Punjab and KPK point towards, as far as my opinion is concerned, a different game. The government wishes to extend their tenure and to do so they have to develop some grounds to pave their way to extension. The war on terrorism might not be the sufficient ground as not only in Pakistan but also in Afghanistan, and twice in the US, elections are held while fighting the war against terror. This might merely be my 'conspiracy theory'.
The problem with the our society is whenever such attacks occur, we start responding 'what sort of Islam says so', 'is this what Islam teaches', 'this is the distorted Islam' etc. Hitler said a lie told continuously becomes a truth. We are, despite all the so-much-babbled-about media independence, starting to lose our intellect and capacity of arguing. Everyone seems to reiterate the same rote mantra of Talibanization in all such cases. The so-called Taliban apprehended in Swat, or the ones killed in Peshawar recently, showed no religious affiliation, leave alone the passion of propagating Islam by whatsoever means. This is an unfortunate situation. Regards

Coward attack on polio teams depicts mental illness
The attack on the poor polio eradicators contains manifold reasons behind this brutal act. We are facing enmity of several groups. It is not easy to convict any group without sufficient investigation and valid evidences. Fighting with an open enemy is not as difficult as to chase the hidden or disguised rivals. We have one group who openly claims himself responsible for several attacks, so automatically their name comes first in such activities.
Keeping the agenda of Taliban, it can not be neglected that these attacks are committed by them. Because there are rumors about the aforesaid vaccine that it contains some components for reducing the reproduction abilities. Taliban and many other think it unIslamic so they don't want to get these drops drink by their offspring. Taliban, according to their previous course of action, want to impose their opinions upon others so they target the poor workers. This way they easily attained their target as the vaccination has been stopped just after the attacks. Another reason behind these attacks, may be the fear of agents like Shakeel Afridi, who through a fake vaccination entered into their crack-man and stolen precious information. They may be afraid that there may be agents disguised in the polio workers. Third aspect that clues in the involvement of Taliban, is the revenge of their defeat in recent attack on Peshawar Airport. The hand of foreign factor also can not be neglected. India does not want us to sustain even. So, she would not like the eradication of the disease from our country. She took the advantage of the name of Taliban, and targeted the innocent ladies. She got dual benefit from it. She portrayed us as a country where even females are not safe, and our government is not capable of handling the activists. She also steps forward to make us alone at international level as UN can ban us to travel to polio-free countries without a proper polio checkup. US also can be involved in this act. She may paved the way for strengthening her drone and do-more strategy. And if, God forbid me, we are banned to travel to other countries, she may offer us her assistance and may demand any thing from us---any surely does not mean a candy at all. Whatever the reasons behind the attacks were, it is not an attack on the workers only but direct on our sovereignty. As the consequences will surely affect us in one way or other. I wish, some of our government personnel may find an intelligent way to minimize the aftershocks.. May Allah save us as He is doing since the time of independence. ameen |

To me , this is well orchesterd campaign to malign Pakistan . It's fallout knows no bound . Pakistan is unfortunately one of those three states in the world where endemic polio is prevalent . If target to end polio is not met this time , it will surely bring many bans on Pakistan including ban on travel abroad .

No doubt the situation is of much concern but when we can give hundreds of vehicles and hundreds of elite forces officials and officers for VIP protocol so why we can not give these innocent polio eradicators adequate security working for the cause of humanity. Whether attacks are carried out in any part of the country, the motive is clear, that is to destabilize Pakistan and they are very much successful in this task. To nominate the responsibles of the attack, it would be difficult as there are number of terrorist groups other than foreign agencies. According to a report, in Karachi there are 25 terrorist groups.

Pakistan is known as failing state in the world since it has participated in the war against terrorism, terrorist are easily doing their acts without any fear at any part of the country. In this situation, more astonishing fact is the ignorence, lack of seriousness on the part of our political and military leadership.
This is not the time to determine the cause of their criminal acts, because their agenda to malign Pakistan is quite clear. Now it is time to decide whether we live in their Pakistan or ours. |
