I will be obliged if you explain this point.

Thanks
Yes the test on 30th september has been specifically designed for the said scholarship to give all the candidates an equal opportunity. No previous GAT score will be valid for this test, every one has to qualify this test in order to be short listed.

Salam,

I am planning to avail this scholarship. Although I have already got admission in a US university with generous stipend for PhD, but my visa has been delayed due to administrative processing. I have taken the ETS GRE, with 87 in quantitative and 86 in verbal. I have also cleared the GRE subject, chemistry, in my case with 86 percentile. Also cleared the ETS TOEFL with 114/120.

I want to ask if I need to take the NTS GAT separately and the CWS test that will be held by NTS on 30th september? Or just taking the test on 30th september enough. Moreover, can I report my TOEFL score in lieu of IELTS, or do I have to take the IELTS necessarily?

I'd appreciate if the seniors may guide me.

Currently they have not revealed the full details (this may be a good scheme from NTS to collect money from all the aspirants having 1st/2nd/3rd division of all ages ), in initial steps you are eligible you have to appear for GAT test being conducted on 30th september 2012, after that a merit list will be prepared by keeping in view the factors like that i.e. the test score, preference of country, preference of university, field of study, available seats, may be they may prefer fresh graduates but in my opinion its not hard and fast so you should not worry about it.

Re-check your Quant and Verbal score of GRE-ETS. It is not given in such scale. You are scaled 130+. How you land in 80's?

You do not need to take the separate GAT General test, you only need to appear in the test of 30th September being conducted by NTS to be in competition for commonwealth scholarship.

These scholarships are offered by the selected Commonwealth countries which follow ILETS but if the university you will be getting admission requires TOEFL then there will be no need for separate ILETS.

Yes, GRE (International) is the requirement for admission to any particular university in UK or USA. You would have to take that. GAT General has nothing to do with that admission. It is only for shortlisting of candidates by Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination.

GAT/CWS Test is purely for shortlisting by Govt. of Pakistan. You would have to take this test if you want to apply for the scholarship. Otherwise GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL etc are all requirements for Admission to any particular university. Once you have have been shortlisted by the Govt. of Pakistan after the 30 Sept. test, you would need to take the IELTS test for consideration by the commonwealth commission in UK.

Yes, once you are selected for scholarship, you would have to furnish a bond with Govt. of Pakistan that you would return back after completion of degree and serve in Pakistan for next 5 years (if I recall correctly). Usually the UK Govt. won't extend your visa once your degree has finished. I don't remember the exact amount of bond, because it varies every year, but it is pretty much in millions.

Dear Ali,

Is the pattern of GAT-NTS test for this specific scholarship same for all disciplines? Or, the pattern of test will vary, depending upon the nature of one's discipline/field like Social Science, Computer Science, Physical Science?

Your reply will be much appreciated!
