Pleasure, Mohsin.
Let me make it more clear. When a day (a day = one day) after Monday is Tuesday then Two days after Monday is Wednesday. Perhaps the most common example of the use of modular arithmetic is the way that we work with the days of the week. When we try to work out what day of the week something will happen on we often make calculations such as "Two days after Tuesday is Thursday". We could write this in a pseudo-mathematical way as follows: Tuesday + 2 = Thursday. Similarly, we might say that "Four days after Wednesday is Sunday". In other words: Wednesday + 4 = Sunday. So far so good. But what happens when our calculation reaches beyond the end of the week? Well... that's not exactly a problem is it? "Three days after Friday is Monday". Granted it will be Monday of the following week but if we are just interested in what day it is then this doesn't matter. So Friday + 3 = Monday. Subtraction is just as easy: "Two days before Thursday is Tuesday". That is: Thursday - 2 = Tuesday. What happens when a subtraction strays into the week before? We can do that as well, can't we? "Fourdays before Wednesday is Saturday". Again, we are ignoring what week it is and are only interested in the day. Pseudo-mathematically: Wednesday - 4 = Saturday. Finally, "Seven days before Friday is Friday". That is: Friday - 7 = Friday. If we now number the days of the week starting at 0, we have:Monday=0, Tuesday=1, Wednesday=2, Thursday=3, Friday=4, Saturday=5 and Sunday=6. It is now possible to write all our previous pseudo-mathematical equations as equations featuring the numbers 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Pseudo-maths ................................... Modular Arithmetic Tuesday + 2 = Thursday ......................... (1 + 2 = 3) Wednesday+ 4 = Sunday........................ (2 + 4 = 6) Friday + 3 = Monday............................... (4 + 3 = 0) Thursday - 2 = Tuesday........................... (3 - 1 = 2) Wednesday- 4 = Saturday....................... (2 - 4 = 5) Friday - 7 = Friday .................................. (4 - 7 = 4) Calculating the day of the week is an example of modulo 7 (often abbreviated to mod 7) arithmetic. It is just like normal arithmetic except that you "wrap around" when you reach 7. In other words you treat 7 as beginning again at 0. |

Que 4 Change the position of three words only in the sentence below in order for it to make complete sense. Imaginary in the Middle Ages, a Bestiary is a type of book that purports to describe all the animals in creation, real or human, and the popular traits they exemplify. Assalam-u-Alaikum to all,
[B] Quote:
when Milly givees 60 Pounds to tilly than Milly remained with 620-60 = 560 & tilly = 220+60 = 280 pounds 280*2=560 hence 2:1 when Tilly givees 10 Pounds to Milly than Tilly remained with 220-10 = 210 & tilly = 620+10 = 630 pounds 210*3=630 hence 1:3 Quote:
that purports to describe all the animals in creation, real or IMAGINARY, and the HUMAN traits they exemplify. Quote:
If anything divided by its half, the answer is 2, than how come its 50lbs..... Quote:

Quote:
50 lbs divided by half of its weight 50 '/. 1/2 x = x (Changing the signs) (50 X 2) / x = x 100 / x = x (Multiply both side by x) 100 = x^2 (getting square root of both sides) x = 10
