LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief went after the military with all guns blazing on Thursday, blaming the current situation of the country on “the generals”. Addressing a Christmas ceremony at a church in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif asserted that the days of taking ‘extra-constitutional steps’ are long gone. The nation will now support rule of law and democracy instead of any dictator, he said. “Each and every person living in Pakistan is bound to follow the constitution and no one is above the law. If someone thinks they are supreme to the law, they are living in a fool’s paradise,” he added. Nawaz said that military dictators had overthrown prime ministers, hanged people and sent some on exile, and none of them cared about the alarming situation of the country’s economy. He added that it was “pathetic” that none of the generals have been held accountable. He also asked an ‘absconding general’ whether he felt any shame. The PML-N chief further said his party mended the relationship between Pakistan and India, and both nations were headed towards progress. Unfortunately, he added, a dictator sabotaged that process and brought the country back to square one. Nawaz also pointed out that a civilian government is going to complete its five-year tenure without military intervention for the first time in Pakistan’s history. He further said that the upcoming elections would be an ‘accountability day’, during which the nation would make a choice between who works hard for the county and those who loot the nation’s money. Speaking on the issue of minorities, Nawaz said there should not be any distinction between ‘majority’ and ‘minority’ as each citizen of the country has equal rights. Meanwhile, former president of the Tehreek-e-Insaf UK chapter Rabia Zia announced to join the PML-N during a meeting with the party chief. Separately, head of the Mahar family of Sindh Ali Gohar Mahar met Nawaz in Raiwind on Thursday, where he is said to have asked the party chief for his daughter’s hand in marriage for his son. Although the Mahar family recently announced to join the Pakistan Peoples Party, sources have said that they are reconsidering their initial choice and have been approaching the PML-N in this regard. Pak Affairs India act of 1935 Election of 1937 EDS: Structure of human eye Major genetic diseases English vocabulary Quotidian is a fancy way of saying "daily" or "ordinary." Quotidian events are the everyday details of life. When you talk about the quotidian, you're talking about the little things in life: everyday events that are normal and not that exciting. Going to the store, doing chores, working or going to school, and brushing your teeth are all quotidian. If you take a spaceship to Mars, that would be unusual and extraordinary: the opposite of quotidian. To recapitulate means to go back and summarize. At the end of an oral report, you might say, "So, to recapitulate, I've made three points," and then you name them. Recapitulate is a long, scary-looking word that actually means something simple and easy. It comes from the Latin re- "again" and capitulum "chapter," which comes from the word caput "head." Think of recapitulating––or recapping, for short––as putting nice little caps on all the bottles you've opened up––tightening everything up. If you're sanguine about a situation, that means you're optimistic that everything's going to work out fine. Sanguine is from Latin sanguis "blood" and originally meant "bloody" — in medieval medicine it described someone whose ruddy complexion was a sign of an optimistic outlook. That was back when people thought that "bodily humors" like blood were responsible for your attitudes. Now that we no longer believe in humors, sanguine has settled down as a fancy way to say someone is cheerfully confident. Experts are frequently described as feeling sanguine about a political or economic situation — or not sanguine, if they think we're going to hell in a handbasket. Ever see someone talking to himself while on a stage? That's what you call a soliloquy — a character's speech voicing his or her own thoughts as if to himself. Shakespeare's plays are full of soliloquies. The noun, soliloquy, comes from the Latin roots, solus "alone" plus loqui "speak" meaning "a talking to oneself." A soliloquy is a speech a character gives of his thoughts and reflections. Some of the most famous lines in drama are taken from soliloquies. Take "to be or not to be..." and "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, Creeps in this petty pace..." as two examples of lines from soliloquies that have tortured high school students around the globe. Not the Globe Theater, Silly.
