I was contacted by inspector of IB, then why others who are contacted are contacted by simple police inspectors? Do ISI rely on police inspectors for clearance? I think IB or ISI inspector have this job of clearance of candidates.

I am not sure if he is simple police inspector, because during their intro he just said he is from Army Intelligence.

You should write a letter to Chief Admin. Officer, PO Box 2849, Isb.. and u would be treated accordingly.. secondly investigators do not reveal their identity and do their job.

I have been told there will at least be 10 days.

About revealing identity if someone has to visit anybody's home, he surely needs to reveal his identity.

I can't say for others but whoever visited my referral address in Pakistan was from I$I itself.

There will be time of 10-15 days after receiving letter and reporting for medical/joining.

and this is sure that no police department is involved in clearance process, only department gets police verification/record from the concerned police station.

and the inspector here means in all discussion is departmental Inspector/ sub inspector not POLICE Inspector

They contact the candidate in case of confusion/ambuguity , like they contacted me because they weren't getting any response via call from my permanent address .

From police station they just get the record if the candidate was involved in any illegal activity.
