Not at all! have been in your shoes, in fact the every reason I joined forum years and years back was to know the test pattern of AD ISI.

Anyway I would say read Dawn and International edition of Newyork times that comes complimentary with Express tribune in Pakistan. AD jobs were announced last year so this year they are not expected.
Reading newspaper will give you strong base, rest you can cover form books once test is near.
The day we went for the test 96,000 candidates appeared from all over the country. This is a huge number, it was like every college was a center and everyone with a graduation degree was there to compete for these posts. So do not take your preparation for granted. No matter how bright you are, you have to pass the test to be considered. And you can always try your luck in CSS, that way your MoD test will get prepared too.

Thank you soooooooo much for such a kind response. Much grateful, though I doubt it will let you get away with not having recommended some books. :P Do you think preparing for CSS compulsories is sufficient for MOD AD? Could you give names of a few books that you found really helpful?


Btw, are the vacancies expected next year?

For Assistant director general cadre candidates:
No one has joined till now the assistant directors which has joined is from technical cadre not from general..
General cadre A.D candidates medical letters will be issued after Ramadan so we have to wait for another 2 months,,Till than enjoy,,,

Anyone knows about the salary of AD? Someone told me it's in 60s without house rent and 80s with it. Can anyone confirm?

He gets a grade 17 Pay, but yes special allowances of ISI make it around 65. A House, Vehicle, rest I guess you know already.
Your CSS, PAAS? Far better than ISI AD. I must say, rest is up to you, wherever you want to Join.
